Position Summary:
Enables change in an organizational context by defining needs and determining solutions. Contribute to the analysis of business system problems to be solved with automated systems. Provides support in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that meet user requirements. Participates in unit, integration and acceptance testing and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements. May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems and assess available technology and recommend solutions. Defines specifications and data models for product development and testing and uses development specifications to create detailed test cases and analyze results. Working with the various stakeholders with supervision from their BA Manager, the Business Analyst assists in determining technical and business solution across Huron’s corporate groups and practice areas that will deliver value and achieve business objectives.
Position Expectations:
Facilitates communications with product stakeholders to understand product needs and priorities
Elicits and documents business and functional requirements as they pertain to new products, tools or solutions
Assists business units in the preparation of business process mapping and departmental procedures as well as the review of as-is and future state processes
Creates process flows to facilitate understanding and agreement with internal and external stakeholders using various notation (use cases, business process diagrams, workflows, swim lanes)
Learns about a specific business needs through fit/gap analysis, feasibility studies, and business case creation
Works with stakeholders to prioritize requirements
Assists in market research to support new solution development and helps identify features that will add value to our clients and business
Participates in high-level solutioning; consults with the Senior and Lead BAs as needed
Writes detailed, testable requirements and use cases for the desired or proposed solution to verify that the software meets the business requirement.
Supports the QA team by reviewing and providing feedback on test cases as well as keeping documentation up to date as discrepancies are identified
Supports the DEV team by communicating business requirements and functional specifications as well as responding to requests for clarification
Communicates to company stakeholders on upcoming product features and key messages through written and verbal communication, including product demonstrations in person and through web conferencing.
Participates in user acceptance tests, training and communication as needed.
Enables change throughout the organization.
Takes initiative to learn new concepts/technologies
Has an open attitude to learning and accepts feedback
Escalates prudently; demonstrates that the issue/concern was thought-through before bringing in management assistance
Contributes on up to three projects, with low to medium complexity, at a time

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, business or a related field from an accredited university or institution or equivalent work experience (1+ years of experience as a Business Analyst and 1+ years of experience in an IT role)
Ability to create and document unambiguous and testable requirements
Analytical thinking, problem solving and detail-oriented
Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks
Basic knowledge of key concepts and processes within the Software Development Life Cycle including Agile and Waterfall methodologies; practical experience participating in SDLC preferred
Demonstrated aptitude of basic computer systems knowledge
Ability to adapt quickly to new and changing business and technical environments.
Basic process mapping skills using Microsoft Visio. Basic skills/familiarity with other Microsoft business products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required
Good communication skills (oral and written) with a wide range of audiences (technical and non-technical, staff and managerial), in a wide range of settings (e.g., one-on-one, small group, in person, conference calls and via e-mail).
Practical experience using SharePoint, SQL Reporting Services, Microsoft Analysis Services, Scrum or Kanban is desired, but not required.
