Job Description
- S&P Global Commodity Insights (Upstream Solutions) *
TheRole: Senior Analyst
Grade (relevant for internal applicants only): 5
The Location: Gurugram, India.
The Team: This position is in the Transaction team within the Companies and Transaction group. The Transaction team covers all the oil and gas deals, including power and renewables, announced and oil and gas fields/blocks available on the market for acquisition (SEAM database). The team publishes various Insight reports covering several M&A topics and regions along with databases. We also have an analytical dashboard for our clients.
The Impact: This position primarily supports our SEAM database within the Transaction team and product development which is critical to our commercial success. This team has only two members directly working on the database with support from other team members from the Transaction team. This role maintains the SEAM database and publishes SEAM Alert and other Insight reports for our clients, which is important for our client’s inorganic strategy and identifying the target assets along with valuation.

Responsibilities
- Track and analyze M&A deals and opportunities on the market and M&A market trends relating to upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors
- Enter data into databases and maintain databases
- Work on the valuation of available opportunities on the market and writing reports
- Review data and trends to confirm and validate accuracy
- Working as a team with professionals in other global locations, conduct research on market developments, industry trends. Periodically highlight key findings, trends and conflicting information/data for analysts’ review and attention
- Collaborate with energy professionals in other global locations, contribute to research and production of subscription and consulting work products
- Manage client communications describing services and supporting Sales team (in time)
What We’re Looking For
- 5-8 years of business research or industry experience in M&A in the oil and gas sector

- MBA in oil and gas/finance/general management
- Reading and writing skills in international business English, good communication skills, and a natural bent for multi-tasking and good organization
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills both written and oral
- Proven comfort level with data research (where and how to find information, company reports etc.)
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as a team
- Confident self-starter capable of managing workload
