India Welfare Trust (IWT www.indiawelfaretrust.in) is dedicated to fostering citizenship, philanthropy, and volunteering across India. The organization supports impactful initiatives such as #LivingMyPromise, #DaanUtsav, and #EveryIndianVolunteering. Our work centres around the core belief that some of us are born lucky, and those of us who won the ovarian lottery should be grateful and eager to give back, so that we have a poverty-free, harmonious, sustainable and equitable society within 1 generation.

Our trustees have been entrepreneurs themselves and involved in setting up-

1. GiveIndia, which raises > Rs500cr a year for nonprofits
2. Educational Initiatives, arguably Indias most impactful edtech business
3. LivingMyPromise- which will see 170 Indians donate >$1 billion in their lifetimes
4. #DaanUtsav - Indias festival of giving that more than 1 crore Indians celebrate giving every year
5. ICVA- Indias first association of corporates focused exclusively on corporate volunteerism

IWTs EIV initiative focuses on empowering volunteer-involving organizations to scale their efforts and deepen engagement, reaching more than 2 million volunteering hours every year. Our current spend is >Rs5cr p.a., which we intend to accelerate in the next 4 years.

This is a full-time remote role for an Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) located in any major Indian city (population >50 lacs). The EiR will

• work on current initiatives that promote volunteering and philanthropic activities for 6-9 months.
• come up with their own idea, start fleshing it out, run pilots and have a full-fledged business plan in place by the end of year 1
• During the first 6-9 months, responsibilities will be very diverse- as one would expect from an entrepreneur, and include designing and launching new initiatives, supporting existing partner orgs with business development, operations management, financial planning and strategy.
• Once your business plan is in place and worthy of support, if it is within the philanthropy/volunteerism space, we will fund you for 3 years (60% of the budget in Y1, 40% in Y2, 25% in Y3). If your plan is a for-profit entity, our Trustees will invest in your startup.
• If your business plan is within the social impact space but not in philanthropy or volunteerism, we will provide you Rs12 lacs in funding for the first year.
• If at the end of a year, you dont have a plan, we will mutually discuss the best way to continue. At most, well extend the arrangement for 6 more months, but we expect the real entrepreneurs to get going before that and want to have their own orgs.

Qualifications

• Full time MBA from a top institution (IIMs, XLRI, ISB or top international bus schools), with least 3-10 years work experience.

• Fire in the belly, strong desire to be an entrepreneur, willing to work 16*6.5*350 on your idea. And seeing year1 as an opportunity to really maximise learning by stretching yourself. Those seeking work-life balance are NOT suitable for this role.
• Eager to make your mark in the social impact space.

Compensation

• For year1, youll be paid a fixed salary that will be at a 30-40% discount to your corporate salary.
• If theres an extension, the same fixed salary may continue till youre on your own.
