Job Description
As a Canada Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for preparing and filing Canadian income tax returns for individuals. You will work closely with senior team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations. You will also assist with resolving tax-related queries.
What you will do
You will gather and analyze financial information from clients, prepare tax returns using appropriate software, and ensure timely filing. You will also stay updated on changes to Canadian tax laws and regulations. You'll collaborate with colleagues to address complex tax issues.
Key Responsibility
- Prepare and file Canadian income tax returns for individuals accurately and efficiently.
- Collect and verify financial documents from clients, including T4s, RRSP contribution receipts, and other relevant documents.
- Use tax preparation software (e.g., TaxCycle, Profile) to complete tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations, including the Income Tax Act and related guidelines.
- Review tax returns for accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding tax-related matters and provide clear, concise explanations.
- Stay updated on changes to Canadian tax laws and regulations through professional development and training.
- Assist with tax planning and optimization strategies for clients.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of client information.
- Collaborate with senior tax professionals to resolve complex tax issues.
Required Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in preparing Canadian income tax returns is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in using tax preparation software such as TaxCycle or Profile.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax forms, including T1, T2, T3, and T4.
