Jivejar LLC is a U.S.-based parent company with a dedicated Product Division building technology products for the U.S. market.

We are developing an AI-first, offline-capable restaurant point-of-sale platform for independent and small multi-location restaurants. The product includes:

• Point-of-sale terminals
• Kitchen display systems
• Customer-facing displays
• Payments and refunds
• QR and online ordering
• Merchant back office
• Device provisioning and management

The platform must continue supporting essential restaurant operations during internet interruptions and safely synchronize when connectivity returns.

We are hiring a hands-on Senior Android Engineer to own the native Android application layer of the product.

You will build the POS terminal, kitchen display system, and customer-facing display using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. You will also integrate payment terminals, printers, cash drawers, scanners, secondary displays, and dedicated Android hardware.

This is not a standard consumer mobile-app role. These applications will operate continuously in restaurant environments and must recover safely from network loss, process termination, application crashes, device restarts, and peripheral failures.

• Build native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Develop POS, kitchen display, and customer-facing display workflows.
• Implement ordering, modifiers, payments, tips, refunds, receipts, voids, and shift functions.
• Build durable offline storage using Room and SQLite.
• Handle local transaction persistence, synchronization, retries, deduplication, and reconnect behavior.
• Ensure transactions and open orders survive application restarts and Android process termination.
• Integrate receipt printers, kitchen printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, payment readers, and secondary displays.
• Work with vendor-specific Android and hardware SDKs.
• Implement kiosk mode, application auto-start, device enrollment, diagnostics, and health monitoring.
• Support staged APK deployment and recovery procedures.
• Test regularly on physical POS terminals, printers, payment devices, and Android tablets.
• Implement crash reporting and operational monitoring using tools such as Sentry.
• Work closely with the Lead Software Engineer on APIs, payments, synchronization, and shared business rules.
• Review, test, and take responsibility for code created using AI-assisted development tools.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 4+ years of production native Android development using Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin, coroutines, Android lifecycle management, and modern Android architecture.
• Production experience with Jetpack Compose.
• Strong experience with Room and SQLite.
• Experience building offline-capable Android applications.
• Experience handling process death, application restart, and durable state recovery.
• Experience integrating physical hardware or vendor SDKs into Android applications.
• Experience with kiosk, POS, enterprise-managed, or dedicated-use Android devices.
• Strong debugging skills across Android, hardware, networking, firmware, and third-party SDKs.
• Understanding of REST APIs, retries, idempotency, and error handling.
• Ability to work independently as the primary Android engineer on a small product team.
• Willingness to work full-time from Hyderabad and regularly test on physical hardware.

• Experience in restaurant technology, POS, retail, fintech, logistics, industrial, or field-service applications.
• Experience with thermal printers, ESC/POS, payment readers, scanners, cash drawers, or customer displays.
• Experience with Android Enterprise, lock-task mode, kiosk policies, or device-management platforms.
• Experience integrating payment-terminal SDKs.
• Experience with Android secondary displays and the Presentation API.
• Experience supporting GMS and non-GMS Android devices.
• Experience with staged enterprise APK deployments and rollback procedures.
