Head/Lead Embedded Engineer (Firmware)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a well-experienced Engineer to lead EMO s Embedded Firmware Engineering organization and define the software architecture for intelligent energy platforms across EV and Energy Storage products. Own firmware strategy, architecture, embedded software platforms, cybersecurity, software quality, and engineering execution while building a world-class embedded engineering organization. As part of the engineering leadership team, work directly with the Founders to define EMO s technology roadmap and build scalable embedded platforms for future products.

What You Will Do:

Engineering Leadership

1. Lead the overall Embedded Firmware Engineering organization & Build, mentor, and scale high-performing firmware engineering teams.
2. Define engineering culture, development processes, coding standards, and technical governance.
3. Drive engineering excellence across software architecture, quality, execution, and delivery.

Product & Technology Ownership

1. Own embedded software architecture across Battery Management Systems (BMS), Battery Packs, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), charging systems, power electronics, EV electronics, and future intelligent energy products.
2. Develop reusable embedded software platforms supporting multiple product families.
3. Define software technology roadmap aligned with company strategy.
4. Evaluate emerging embedded technologies and software architectures.

Software Development

1. Lead firmware development from architecture through production deployment.
   
2. Own software development lifecycle including architecture, implementation, validation, release management, and field support.
3. Drive embedded software performance, scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
4. Ensure robust communication protocols, diagnostics, bootloaders, OTA updates, cybersecurity, and safety features.

Software Quality

1. Establish software development best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, version control, and release management.
2. Drive software validation, debugging, HIL/SIL testing, system verification, and field issue resolution.
3. Ensure compliance with functional safety and cybersecurity standards.

Cross Functional & Strategic Leadership

1. Partner closely with Hardware, Mechanical, Product, Manufacturing, Quality, Testing, and Customer Engineering teams.
2. Drive seamless hardware software integration throughout product development.
3. Work directly with Founders to define embedded technology strategy.
4. Lead architecture reviews, executive technical discussions, and strategic engineering decisions.
5. Represent Firmware Engineering in customer engagements, technology partnerships, and product roadmap planning.

What We re Looking For:

1. Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
2. 10-15 years of embedded firmware development experience in EV, Automotive, Battery Technology, Energy Storage, or Industrial Electronics.
3. Proven leadership experience managing embedded software organizations.
4. Strong expertise in embedded C/C++, RTOS, MCU architectures, communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, Modbus), bootloaders, diagnostics, and firmware architecture.
5. Experience developing safety-critical embedded systems from concept through mass production.
6. Knowledge of ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, IEC 61508, cybersecurity standards, and embedded software development methodologies.
7. Experience in startup or fast-growing product companies preferred.
