Accounting Technician

Who are we looking for?

The Accounting Technician at MedTax is a self motivated, detail oriented, organized administrative individual who is responsible for the complete and accurate processing of payroll and the maintenance of employee & client payroll files and records. This is a great opportunity for a capable individual to support a growing company s operations, grow with the company and be exposed to various areas of accounting, finance, and payroll.

What you will be doing:

1. Completion of full cycle bookkeeping for clients, including:
2. Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings.
3. Record payroll transactions in clients bookkeeping records.
4. Recording expenses including those paid personally.
5. Prepare Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) returns.
6. Reconcile bank/cc/investment activity.
7. Reconcile tax accounts (RC/RP/RT).
8. 
   Draft financial statements.
9. Tax preparation and support:
10. Preparation of T4 and T5 Slips based on client s annual tax plans.
11. Preparation of T1 returns based on client s individual tax plans.
12. Preparation of T3 returns.
13. Preparation of T2 returns based on client s annual tax plans.
14. Prepare and file HST returns (quarterly and annually).
15. Client relations:
16. Supporting clients with CRA communications and document submissions.
17. Filing of client s tax documents in our electronic database.
18. Assistance with documentation related to financial planning.
19. Ability to pioneer new processes and leverage technology to create a unique client experience.

What you will bring along:

1. College/University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Two to three years accounting/finance/bookkeeping experience preferred is mandatory.
3. Robust working knowledge of CaseWare, Profile, QuickBooks Desktop and Online, and ADP or comparable payroll software are mandatory.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Gmail, and Google suite apps.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Detail orientation with an ability to communicate and identify problems.
7. Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive manner.
8. Organized with good time management skills (ability to work under pressure).
9. Client relationship building and communication abilities.
