What role will you play in the team

As a Junior Django and PostgreSQL Backend Web Engineer, you will be an integral part of our core server-side development team. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling secure backend services, designing robust database schemas, optimizing server performance, and ensuring seamless integration between database systems and web applications.

What you will do

You will write clean, reusable code using Python and the Django framework, design and implement complex database architectures using PostgreSQL and MySQL, build secure RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints, utilize Git and GitHub for version control, and collaborate with frontend developers to deliver high-performance enterprise applications hosted on cloud platforms like AWS.

Key responsibility

• Design and develop secure backend applications and web services using Django and Python.
• Create, manage, and optimize relational databases using PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Develop and document RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints for seamless frontend integration.
• Implement data security protocols, user authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
• Manage source code, branching strategies, and code reviews using Version Control Systems like Git and GitHub.
• Monitor server performance, troubleshoot backend bottlenecks, and optimize query execution times.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent stream.
• 0 to 1 years of professional development experience specializing in Python and Django.
• Strong understanding of Database Systems, specifically PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Proficiency in API Development, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL integration.
• Working knowledge of Version Control Systems including Git and GitHub.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaborative teamwork skills.

A Day in the Life

You start your morning by checking issue trackers and reviewing pull requests on GitHub. You dedicate the core hours to writing Django models, writing unit tests for backend services, and optimizing PostgreSQL database queries. In the afternoon, you collaborate with the frontend team to integrate new API endpoints and resolve integration discrepancies.
