Junior Investment Banking Valuation Specialist

What role will you play in the team

You will play a foundational yet critical role within our elite investment banking advisory team based in Mumbai. As a Junior Valuation Specialist, you will act as the primary quantitative engine for live M&A transactions and private placement memorandums. Your core objective is to deliver robust, audit-ready financial models and valuation reports that empower senior dealmakers to pitch effectively and negotiate aggressively on behalf of corporate clients. You will interface directly with senior analysts, VPs, and occasionally client finance teams to gather data, synthesize market trends, and ensure every valuation metric withstands rigorous internal and external scrutiny during high-stakes financial transactions.

What you will do

Your daily routine will involve deep-dive financial statement analysis, building dynamic discounted cash flow models from scratch, and executing comprehensive comparable company analyses across diverse industrial sectors. You will extract pristine financial datasets using Bloomberg Terminal and Capital IQ, scrubbing and organizing raw data into polished pitch decks and confidential information memoranda. Furthermore, you will assist in drafting transaction teasers, tracking active deal pipelines, mapping out potential strategic acquirers, and conducting thorough sector-specific benchmarking to support our ongoing sell-side and buy-side mandates.

Key responsibility

• Construct, audit, and maintain complex DCF and LBO financial models incorporating sensitivity analysis and debt schedules.
• Perform exhaustive Comparable Company Analysis (Comps) and Precedent Transaction Analysis using Capital IQ and FactSet.
• Synthesize raw financial data into compelling, institutional-grade pitch books, valuation decks, and transaction teasers.
• Execute rigorous M&A modeling tools to evaluate accretion/dilution impacts on prospective merger scenarios.
• Conduct thorough capital markets research and track macroeconomic indicators affecting deal valuations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional advisory teams to perform comprehensive financial due diligence on target companies.
• Automate repetitive financial reporting and data ingestion workflows using advanced Excel Macros & VBA scripts.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline from a tier-1 institution.
• Demonstrated mastery of core corporate finance principles, financial statement analysis, and valuation methodologies.
• Hands-on professional or academic experience utilizing Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, and Excel Macros & VBA.
• Exceptional quantitative aptitude with a meticulous eye for detail and uncompromising commitment to data accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills capable of translating complex financial models into clear insights.
• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced investment banking environment with strict deal deadlines.

A Day in the Life

Your day begins at 9:00 AM reviewing overnight market movements on the Bloomberg Terminal and updating sector comps. By mid-morning, you are deep into building a DCF model for a live tech acquisition, adjusting terminal growth rates and WACC assumptions. Post lunch, you sync with the senior associate to review draft pitch book slides, incorporating feedback on valuation charts. The afternoon involves auditing Excel macros for data extraction and prepping briefing notes for an upcoming client pitch meeting before wrapping up your deliverables by late evening.
