What role will you play in the team

You will play a foundational yet critical role within our elite Investment Banking division based in Mumbai. As a Junior Valuation Specialist, you will act as the primary quantitative engine for our sector-specific deal teams. Your core mandate involves bridging raw financial data with actionable strategic insights by constructing rigorous valuation frameworks. Working alongside senior investment bankers, you will directly influence live mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions by delivering pristine financial models and comprehensive market comparables under tight institutional deadlines.

What you will do

Your daily routine will center on dissecting complex financial statements, parsing historical earnings reports, and forecasting future cash flows to support active deal pipelines. You will heavily utilize advanced Excel Macros & VBA to automate repetitive modeling tasks, ensuring error-free output for pitch books and confidential information memorandums. Additionally, you will interface with internal equity research teams to gather macroeconomic indicators, benchmark industry multiples, and synthesize disparate data points into cohesive valuation summaries presented directly to Managing Directors.

Key responsibility

• Construct and maintain dynamic Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and Leveraged Buyout (LBO) models from scratch to evaluate corporate valuation limits and potential equity returns.
• Perform exhaustive Comparable Company Analysis (CCA) and Precedent Transactions Analysis utilizing Bloomberg Terminal and Capital IQ platforms.
• Draft pitch books, teaser documents, and comprehensive board presentations detailing strategic alternatives, valuation matrices, and market positioning for corporate clients.
• Collaborate with cross-functional advisory teams during due diligence phases to audit financial models, verify historical adjustments, and reconcile working capital schedules.

• Maintain proprietary valuation databases and track market-clearing transaction multiples across diverse global industries to support active M&A mandates.
• Participate in client brainstorming sessions, preparing quantitative briefing notes, industry landscaping reports, and valuation sensitivity matrices to drive advisory discussions.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline from a premier academic institution.
• Demonstrated mastery of financial statement analysis, corporate finance theory, accounting principles, and valuation methodologies including DCF and LBO.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling best practices, and the capability to write and debug Excel Macros & VBA scripts.
• Hands-on professional or academic experience navigating institutional financial databases such as Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, and PitchBook.
• Exceptional analytical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and the resilience to perform under high-pressure, time-sensitive deal environments.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, enabling clear articulation of complex quantitative findings to senior stakeholders and international clients.

By 10:30 AM, you join a sync with the deal lead to review the initial DCF outputs for an upcoming cross-border M&A transaction. Post-lunch, you spend dedicated hours refining LBO debt schedules using Excel Macros & VBA to test various interest rate sensitivities. The evening concludes with a rapid-fire review of pitch book slides alongside senior associates before finalizing deliverables for the morning board meeting.
