Node.js Backend Engineer

What role will you play in the team

You will act as a core Node.js Backend Engineer responsible for designing, building, and scaling our foundational server-side infrastructure and microservices architecture. In this capacity, you will empower our product offerings by building lightning-fast APIs, managing complex database schemas, and ensuring absolute data security, high availability, and optimal backend performance for our growing global user base.

What you will do

You will write scalable server-side code using Node.js and Express.js, architecting efficient database schemas across MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. You will build secure RESTful APIs and GraphQL services, deploy applications on cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure, and maintain seamless code management through Git and GitHub while collaborating with frontend teams to deliver end-to-end features.

Key responsibility

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and microservices using Node.js and Express.js.
• Develop robust and secure RESTful APIs and GraphQL queries for seamless communication with frontend applications.
• Architect, manage, and optimize relational and non-relational database systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Implement stringent data security protocols, authentication mechanisms, and authorization standards across all endpoints.
• Deploy, monitor, and scale backend infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• 
  Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure high code coverage and application reliability.
• Utilize Git and GitHub for version control, collaborative code reviews, and managing CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing backend systems to improve performance, reduce latency, and handle increased loads.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field of study.
• Solid foundational knowledge and hands-on coding experience with Node.js and Express.js.
• Proficiency in working with database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Deep understanding of backend architecture principles, asynchronous programming, and event-driven design.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
• Familiarity with cloud computing services on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong command over version control tools like Git and GitHub for managing code repositories.
• Exceptional debugging capabilities and a strong commitment to writing clean, modular, and maintainable backend code.

A Day in the Life

You kick off your day by checking server health metrics and reviewing error logs on AWS. During the morning sprint planning, you discuss database schema updates for the upcoming feature release. Your afternoon is dedicated to writing Node.js and Express.js code to implement new authentication endpoints, connecting them with PostgreSQL databases. You wrap up your workday by pushing your commits to GitHub and conducting a code review for a teammate's pull request.
