Private Equity Portfolio Analyst

What role will you play in the team

You will serve as an integral asset to our dynamic Private Equity investment vertical stationed in Bangalore. In this capacity, you will support the entire deal lifecycle from initial target screening and quantitative screening to deep-dive operational due diligence and post-acquisition portfolio monitoring. Your analytical rigor will directly empower our investment partners to allocate capital efficiently, optimize portfolio company performance, and execute high-yield buyout transactions across emerging South Asian markets.

What you will do

Your core responsibilities will involve scouring market intelligence platforms to identify investment-grade targets that match our targeted fund theses. You will deep-dive into target financial records, build intricate M&A modeling tools, and execute sensitivity analyses to gauge risk-adjusted returns. Furthermore, you will track portfolio company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), generate monthly performance dashboards, and assist operating partners in orchestrating strategic value creation initiatives across diverse industrial sectors.

Key responsibility

• Develop sophisticated M&A modeling tools and buyout models to simulate multiple exit scenarios, debt paydown schedules, and equity waterfall distributions.
• Conduct granular market research and deal sourcing activities using specialized platforms including PitchBook, Dealogic, and FactSet to discover proprietary investment opportunities.
• Perform meticulous due diligence on target companies, analyzing historical financials, customer concentration metrics, working capital cycles, and competitive moats.
• Prepare comprehensive investment committee memoranda, valuation teardowns, and strategic thesis presentations for senior general partners.

• Monitor ongoing financial and operational health of active portfolio companies by standardizing reporting templates and auditing management information systems.
• Coordinate with legal, tax, and accounting advisors during transaction execution phases to ensure seamless deal closing and integration alignment.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a kindred quantitative field.
• Solid foundational understanding of private equity mechanics, leveraged finance structures, valuation methodologies, and corporate governance standards.
• Extensive hands-on experience utilizing institutional databases such as FactSet, Dealogic, PitchBook, and advanced financial modeling software.
• Exceptional command over Excel, financial statement consolidation, and quantitative problem-solving under extreme time constraints.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of summarizing dense qualitative and quantitative research into concise investment briefs.
• Demonstrated passion for private markets, startup ecosystems, corporate restructuring, and strategic enterprise value creation.

You wrap up your workday by drafting an executive summary memo for the investment committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning.
