Job Description
The ReEntry Program is a 15-week fellowship program, beginning March 21, 2022 and ending June 30, 2022, with the prospect of an offer for permanent employment with JP Morgan Chase at the end of the program. The program offers a reintroduction to corporate life for those returning to the workplace after an extended career break for two or more years. The fellowship placements will be based on both business needs and candidate skill set and interest areas within our Corporate Investment Banking, Asset Wealth Management & Commercial Banking Operations business.

Control Manager’s main focus is control design and testing expertise, risk and control identification and assessment management, control break and resolution management, and control governance and reporting.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with Risk Management business colleagues to develop an in-depth understanding of the Risks & Controls throughout the department and to assist in the identification and/or development of controls to mitigate gaps
- Build knowledge of Risk Management, its policies and procedures, banking and consumer regulations/laws, and Risk & Control practices in order to implement necessary enhancements to control activities and minimize risk
- Engage cross-functionally with control leads within Risk, and attend Control Lead meetings as required; providing updates to the Director as necessary
- Reviewing adherence to policies, standards and procedures and also ensuring that they the spirit of original governing entity’s obligation, and any changes to the governing entity’s expectations over time
- Performing walkthroughs and assisting critical lines of business with process mapping and risk identification, designing the controls framework and testing the controls
- Ability to understand, analyze and map complex processes and ensuring that maps are kept in evergreen state.
- Provides control related subject matter expertise for relevant projects driven outside of the Control Management organization
- Ongoing monitoring and assessment of operational risk and control environment
- Conduct independent testing and oversee testing conducted by team members. Report/summarize test results for management
- Provide testing and other support for the SOX & CCAR program
- Performing issue/action plan administration end-to-end
- Perform root cause analysis and develop action plans; validate the execution of action plans
- Understanding feedback from independent oversight parties and assessing gaps across products. For instance an audit issue found in one product should be immediately assessed across products and ensure remedial measures are implemented to mitigate recurrence of similar issues.
- Comparison of policies standards and procedures across products for consistency and closure of any gaps that are found
- Comparison of controls across products for optimization, consistency and closure of any gaps that are found
- Identifying meaningful metrics to inform on the health of the operational risk and control environment
- Develop enhanced reporting for controls through use of automation, if required
- Presenting findings, recommendations and presentations to Senior Management
- Managing control committees and forums
- Liaison with upstream and downstream partners to review the control evidences for RCSA and SOX
- Effectively mentoring other team members to help them develop their risk management skills and domain knowledge
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, degree is preferred
- Significant understanding of key banking processes and associated risks; knowledge of the Compliance, KYC, Transaction Monitoring preferred
- 8+ years of relevant post qualification work experience in Risk & Controls Assessment, Internal Controls Design & Review, Risk Consulting, Process Consulting, Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley Control requirements

- Rich experience in business controls audit, including exposure and understanding of IT general controls (ITGC)
- Analytic and Investigative mindset, dedicated to continuously improving processes and a strong bias for action with focus on closing the issues
- Sound business instincts and judgement to assess materiality of the risk
- Able to work across groups (Audit, Controls and allied business groups) and therefore must be a good communicator and influencer
- Proven analytical thinker with ability to identify, analyze and solve problems in a thoughtful manner, with diplomacy and professionalism
- Focused attention to detail, analytical & inquisitive with high standards for quality and accuracy
- History of effective multi-tasking, expectation setting, and escalation of issues, where appropriate
- Project Management Skills - well-organized, structured approach
- Able to work effectively under pressure and in a rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines
- Collaborative, team-oriented, passionate about supporting our internal / external stakeholders
- Self-starter, able to take the initiative and operate in the group with minimum supervision on a daily basis
- Knowledge of Visio and/or iGrafx
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint Advanced Excel and SharePoint automation skills highly desired. Tableau skills are also a plus.
