Job Description

Treasury and Chief Investment Office (TCIO) sits at the very center of the Firm and directly influences the composition of the Firm’s balance sheet and the activities of its four main lines of businesses (LOBs): Asset Management (AM), Commercial Banking (CB), Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) and Consumer & Community Banking (CCB).

Treasury and Chief Investment Office is responsible for firmwide asset and liability management, including:

  • Aggregating and managing the interest rate risk of the Firm’s four main Lines of Buisness, primarily through a global investment securities portfolio
  • Managing the firm’s funding and liabilities through long-term debt and preferred stock issuances, and managing billions of short-term cash deployment activities
  • Aggregating and managing the firm’s liquidity risk, including deploying the firms excess liquidity and overseeing compliance with both internal and regulatory liquidity requirements
  • Managing the end-to-end risk-weighted assets (RWA) and capital measurement processes across the Firm, ensuring efficient and appropriate management of Firm capital, and managing the firmwide capital stress testing process
  • Aggregating and managing the Firms structural foreign exchange risk

The Capital Controllers team within the Treasury and Chief Investment Office Controllers organization is responsible for the controls, monitoring and oversight of the Firm’s capital, RWA under the Basel III Standardized and Advanced capital regimes as well as GSIB, TLAC and supplementary leverage ratios. Responsibilities include providing analysis and commentaries on variances to senior management and regulators, oversight on Investor Day and earnings press release information pertaining to regulatory capital, preparation of SEC capital risk reporting, and oversight of associated external regulatory reporting for the Firm and its principal bank subsidiary JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. The team also perform quality assurance testing on the Firm’s capital reporting framework and are involved in projects, including those related to enhancing key reporting systems, conducting analysis, and participating in various governance forums.

As a successful candidate, you will be working with other JPMC functions, including Basel Measurement & Analytics (BM&A) within Global Operations, Business Control Office, SEC Reporting Team, Firmwide Regulatory Reporting & Analysis (FRRA), Line of Business Capital Controllers, Regulatory Capital Policy and Oversight, Audit, and Technology to establish control and governance best practices and accountability for the regulatory capital process. Finance and controller experience, demonstrating importance of reporting integrity, discipline, and timeliness, is a critical skillset for this role.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of regulatory capital rules (Basel III Standardized and Advanced approaches) along with related ratios and metrics to enable delivery of core reporting and analysis
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly RWA analytics to enable senior management to understand key trends and drivers across capital ratios as well as forecast to actual variance analysis
  • Support RWA review and sign-off by Line of Business and ensure quality variance commentary
  • Quarter end regulatory reporting responsibilities, ensuring a high level data quality and agreed SLAs are met
  • Respond to ad-hoc analytical requests from key partners such as FRRA, Line of Business, Corporate Financial Reporting, Regulatory Capital Policy and Oversight as well as senior management
  • General process improvements through creation of efficiencies and pro-actively identify issues, escalate where appropriate and input into the development of tactical and strategic solutions
  • Support firmwide initiatives to ensure delivery of a consistent and sound operating model as it applies to the production of RWA and compliance with the Basel Regulatory Capital framework across the Firm by developing and syndicating guidelines documents
  • Support automation initiatives pertaining to RWA reporting and attestation to ensure the design and build requirements meet business needs
  • Assist in implementation of new regulatory requirements and rule changes to regulatory capital disclosures
  • Participate in control environment activities (SOX compliance)

 Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a finance, control, risk or audit function
  • Creative self-starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
  • Prior knowledge and experience in regulatory capital preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex topics in a clear and concise manner
  • Display strong stakeholder management - should be able to communicate and liaise with all levels of management and across functions
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Control mindset (ability to identify and close control gaps and / or issues)
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and deliverables and meeting recurring deadlines
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks in parallel
  • Strong project mindset - able to identify solutions and execute to conclusion with thoughtful analytical skills
  • Good level of understanding of core bank technology useful
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Finance/Accounting or related field preferred
