Working in Application Support means you'll use both creative and critical thinking skills to maintain application systems that are crucial to the daily operations of the firm. You'll work collaboratively in teams on a wide range of projects based on your primary area of focus: design or programming. While learning to fix application and data issues as they arise, you'll also gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement, in addition to production life cycle methodologies and risk guidelines. Finally, you'll have the opportunity to develop professionally -and to grow your career in any direction you choose.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
- Experience using Mainframe skill-set, tools & facilities: JCL, Changeman, Zeke, VSAM, Cobol, CICS, MQ, DB2, CA7, Endevor, and other TSO utilities
- Experience with mainframe data utilities (ie, FileAid, EZTRIEVE).
- Experience with NDM, MQ and FTP secure transmission protocols.
- Experience with setup and tuning of application monitoring tools (Main View, BAM or similar).
- Understanding of the design and implementation of proactive monitoring and health checks
- ITIL Incident management life cycle skills and experience
- Knowledge of incident, problem management, ticket, change, and risk management processes and tools
- Knowledge (documentation) management experience
- Ability to influence and lead technical conversations with varied IT support groups
- Experience understanding performance metrics
- Solid project management skills, especially in a cross-functional environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience using a structured software development methodology in a large corporate or consulting environment
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter, and within a team environment
- Excellent prioritization, organizational and time management skills
- Solid experience in documenting requirements and technical specifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Influence and negotiation skills
- Education/Experience:
- Bachelors degree or educational equivalent
- 5-8 years of IT management experience with background in application development and/or production support operational experience
- Minimum of 2 years relevant production support and incident management experience
- Commercial Banking, Investment Banking or Treasury Services Product experience (recommended)
- Working knowledge of development tool set to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
