The Micro Loans Officer plays a crucial role in the operations of the microfinance institution, focusing on initiating and managing microloans in designated areas. Reporting to the Meeting Centre Manager, the incumbent is responsible for various tasks related to business development, loan disbursement, and collections. The primary duties and responsibilities include:
Starting Business In a New Village
- Identify suitable villages within the designated radius for business expansion.
- Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies on potential villages, analyzing demographics, economic activities, and financial needs of the community.
- Collaborate with the Meeting Centre Charge (MC-IC) to obtain approval for entering new villages.
- Identify potential customers and establish Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) to facilitate loan disbursement.
- Assist customers in completing loan application forms accurately.
- Verify applicants residence and business details to ensure compliance with institutional policies.
- Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) verification procedures.
- Provide pre-disbursement training sessions to educate customers on loan terms and repayment schedules.
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential customers through regular visits and engagement activities.
- Collect necessary KYC documents from approved applicants.
- Support the MC-IC in coordinating and executing loan disbursement activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to internal policies during the loan disbursement process.
- Receive collection sheets and stickers from the MC-IC for efficient tracking of loan repayments.
- Conduct timely group-wise collections as per the scheduled timeline, following established protocols.
- Safely deposit collected funds and maintain accurate records.
- Enter collection data into the Management Information System (MERC) for monitoring and reporting purposes.

- Proactively follow up with customers who have overdue payments, utilizing updated data reports on assigned portfolios.
- Collect outstanding amounts according to established procedures and protocols.
- Safely deposit recovered funds into the designated bank account.
- Assist the MC-IC in initiating appropriate actions against defaulters, in line with institutional policies and regulations.
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in microfinance operations or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and microfinance industry practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in local language(s) spoken in the assigned area (if applicable).
- Familiarity with MS Office and relevant software applications.
