Team Overview
KPMG Global Services’ Climate Risk and Decarbonisation Strategy Team (CRDS) leads our work to help clients across sectors respond to the immense, systemic challenges posed by climate change. Amongst other activities, we help clients to identify and quantify climate risks and opportunities faced by their businesses to meet regulatory, investor, and stakeholder demands; analyze and assess the range of mitigation and adaptation strategies available to address climate risks (including the adoption of net zero strategies, carbon market participation, and transition planning); ensure businesses are positioned to capture the opportunity from climate change; implement the strategies; and, finally, embed the risk, strategy, targets, and governance into financial reporting, helping to pave the way to a low carbon economy.

The role will be based out of KPMG’s Gurugram and Mumbai offices and liaise cross-functionally with leaders across the business to drive internal and external engagement.
Roles and responsibilities
Working as a member of the team your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Examine emerging market trends, tools, metrics, advances, and best practices in climate risk strategy
- Perform research on a range of climate related topics that affect the firm's activities and develop market intelligence and sector knowledge
- Develop client’s capabilities on climate strategy, establish strategic impact priorities and action plans
- Make recommendations on implementation, operations, and adjustments for client programmes related to sustainability and climate
- Conduct research on climate focused topics as requested to assist KPMG onshore teams, providing analysis and recommendations
- Establish and manage the implementation of science-based targets, develop client’s capabilities to support data collection and reporting
- Supporting KPMG onshore teams on leading business development initiatives, including preparation of proposals and pitches to target clients
- Contributing to thought leadership and knowledge management to support practice development
- Actively supporting the practice development by building and managing the relationships and interacting with stakeholders across various KPMG member firms
Essential skills required Education / Professional
MBAs, Economists and Engineers from a leading Indian/International educational institution
Education background in Climate Change, Natural Sciences, Energy, Environmental Engineering, or related fields (preferred but not mandatory)
Prior Experience: Relevant climate risk, ESG and/or sustainability experience gained in global research and consulting firms and/or industry (preferred but not mandatory)
The ideal candidate would have:
- Relevant certifications and working knowledge of key frameworks such as GRI, CDP, TCFD, GRESB, SASB, SBTI, DJSI, SDGs, NZGs, CSRD, NFRD, GARP SCR, CFA ESG etc.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas of work – net zero target setting, energy efficiency and decarbonization strategy, climate risk scenario modelling, scenario analysis, physical and transition risk mapping, risk integration, energy transition, scope 3 advisory, supply chain sustainability, circular economy; (demonstrated expertise in one or more topic areas a plus)
- Experience in performing or assessing quantification and calculations related to GHG emissions, inventory, assurance, reduction, and reporting engagements including scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
- Experience in supply chain sustainability, supply chain risk, procurement, transformation, transparency, and other risk-based approaches for supply chain management
- Basic understanding of carbon accounting, baselining, markets, and trading; sustainable finance including financed emissions, and ESG focused investing
- Hands-on experience in climate strategy development & implementation, corporate sustainability strategy, and change management is desirable

- Develop asset management policies, strategies, and plans
- Introduce asset performance management and levels of service
- Apply appropriate needs assessment and risk management techniques
- Perform lifecycle analysis and forecasting, feasibility analysis, business case and market analysis
- Apply asset management standards and best practices
- Develop asset management tools
Business Development:
- Securing additional work for the current engagement or for related opportunities
- Supporting KPMG onshore teams on business development initiatives, including preparation of proposals and expressions of interest
- Actively building and managing the relationships and interface with Global KPMG Infrastructure teams and other deal advisory professionals

Qualifications and Experience
- Likely to come from an asset, project and/or business management background for asset intensive organizations
- Degree in Engineering or Planning (combined with MBA preferred), from a leading Indian/International educational institution
- Any asset management certification will be an added advantage like Project Management Professionals (PMPs)
- Relevant experience (7-10 years) gained in asset management, infrastructure project operations, project scheduling and lifecycle analysis
Ideal candidate would have:
- Experience in the planning, implementation and application of asset management procedures, practices, tools and techniques including policy and strategy, levels of service, risk and lifecycle analysis, investment planning and prioritization
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and to put in place frameworks and structure
- Experience focusing on realizing the strategic value of asset management at enterprise level and not just the engineering/operational level application
- Understanding and assessment of operating models and end to end process for asset management and capital delivery for asset intensive organizations
- Life-cycle decision-making and the ability to manage and direct the creation of asset management plans, capital programs or maintenance regimes
- Assessing and managing risks at both a service/network level and an asset level
- Good understanding of asset management information and knowledge management
- Experience in one or more key sectors of Transport, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Property/Estates or Utilities
