Job Description

What role will you play in the team?

As a US Expatriate Tax Assistant, you will assist in preparing US tax returns for individuals working abroad, ensuring compliance with US tax laws and regulations. You will work under the guidance of senior tax professionals.

What you will do

You will be preparing US expatriate tax returns (Form 1040). Assisting with tax equalization calculations. Supporting tax planning and compliance. Responding to client inquiries and resolving tax issues. Maintaining accurate and organized tax records.

Key Responsibility

  • Prepare accurate and timely US expatriate tax returns (Form 1040) and related schedules.
  • Assist with tax equalization calculations to determine the appropriate tax liability for expatriate employees.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial records and tax documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Research and interpret US expatriate tax laws and regulations to determine the correct tax treatment of various transactions.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and provide recommendations to clients to minimize their tax liabilities.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide guidance on US expatriate tax-related matters.
  • Assist with tax audits and represent clients before tax authorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of US expatriate tax laws and regulations through continuing professional education.
  • Collaborate with other members of the tax team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of tax services.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls and policies.

Required Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-1 years of experience in US expatriate tax preparation and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of US expatriate tax laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with tax equalization calculations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with tax preparation software for expatriate returns is a plus.
