Junior Legal Associate

Job Overview:

Sundar Law Associate firm is seeking a dedicated and capable Junior Legal Associate with 0 - 3 years of post-qualification experience. The role involves assisting in a wide range of legal matters including corporate transactions, litigation, arbitration, compliance, and regulatory advisory. The ideal candidate should have strong legal drafting and research skills and be eager to work on high-value corporate and commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Drafting and Documentation

• Draft, review, and revise various contracts and agreements including NDAs,employment contracts, vendor agreements, shareholder agreements, and lease deeds.
• Prepare litigation-related documents including notices, pleadings, affidavits, and petitions.
• Assist in drafting arbitration documents, internal legal opinions, and compliance-related documentation.

Litigation

• Support in handling commercial and civil litigation matters in various courts and tribunals.
• Prepare case briefs, coordinate with external counsel, attend hearings, and manage court filings.
• Maintain and update litigation trackers and case documentation.

Arbitration and Dispute Resolution

• Assist in domestic and international arbitration proceedings including drafting statements of claim, responses, and written submissions.
• Coordinate with arbitral institutions and clients.
• Research case law and arbitral precedents to support dispute resolution strategy.
  

Corporate Law and Transactions

• Assist in due diligence, company incorporation, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
• Draft board resolutions, shareholder documents, and regulatory filings.
• Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, FEMA, SEBI regulations, and related laws.

Legal Advisory and Client Support

• Assist in providing legal advice on corporate, contractual, and regulatory matters under senior supervision.
• Prepare internal legal memos and client updates.
• Participate in client meetings and follow-up actions as required.

Legal Research

• Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and regulatory developments using databases such as Manu Patra, SCC Online, and Westlaw.
• Prepare detailed research notes and assist in the creation of internal knowledge resources.

Advocacy and Courtroom Support

• Assist in preparing oral and written submissions for court and arbitration proceedings.

Candidate Requirements:

• BL/LLB. degree from a recognized university (3-year or 5-year program)
• 0 - 3 years of post-qualification legal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
• Enrolment with the Bar Council (mandatory or in progress)
• Strong command over legal drafting, research, and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research databases
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
