Job Description
Install, configure, and upgrade database software (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or others).
Design and maintain database structures, schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
Monitor database performance, implement tuning strategies, and optimize queries.
Ensure data security, integrity, and availability through user access controls, encryption, and compliance standards.
Perform database backups, disaster recovery planning, and failover testing.
Troubleshoot database issues, resolve outages, and provide timely support.
Collaborate with developers to optimize application performance and support database-related development tasks.
Implement data replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
Maintain documentation of database systems, processes, and policies.
Stay updated with emerging database technologies, cloud database services, and best practices.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
Proficiency with major database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Strong understanding of database design, normalization, indexing, and optimization techniques.
Knowledge of backup/recovery methods, replication, and high availability (HA/DR) solutions.
Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is an advantage.
Experience with database monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Oracle Enterprise Manager, etc.).
Solid understanding of security practices, including access controls and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
