Job title: Compliance Associate

Location: Mumbai, India

Overview:

Direct Reporting: Compliance Manager

Team: Global Legal Team

The Compliance Associate will work for L.E.K.’s global offices, which serves the firm’s internal compliance needs. The incumbent carries out responsibilities within Legal’s risk and compliance team, assisting the team in coordinating securities trading management platforms, client onboarding processes, information security laws and compliances, maintaining compliance management system, documentation and other risk management functions.

These functions include but are not limited to: assisting with the firm’s trading platform, Know-Your-Customer (“KYC”) and Enhanced Due Diligence (“EDD”)/background checking processes, and working cross-functionally with other L.E.K. departments and teams, such as Finance, HR, Marketing and Knowledge Management, to ensure timely delivery of various compliance matters and protocols. The person will be a part of Compliance Team which supports our operations Globally in more than 25 locations in Europe, Americas, GCC and Asia-Pacific regions.


Objectives of this role

  • Safeguard against Regulatory/Compliance risks and operations related to the industry and generic legal requirements including anti-bribery, money laundering, prevention of Sexual harassment etc. and compliance with internal applicable rules & regulations and group policies.
  • Continuous compliance assessments to recognize areas where the company might be vulnerable to non-compliance and similar risks,
  • Maintaining compliance management system and assisting teams in navigating the same.
  • Developing, implementing and enforcing procedures and policies to ensure the organization’s compliance and ethics program while maintaining best industry standards
  • Working with other departments in the company, such as the legal, human resources and finance departments, to ensure compliance of all laws by departments while doing their day to day activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeping the compliance monitoring tool status updated and coordinate with external team members for clear management of compliance management portal in the company,
  • Assisting with the firm’s KYC and EDD client and vendor onboarding processes,
  • Conducting Legal Research on upcoming laws and regulatory practices in all jurisdictions where LEK operates in and ensuring updates are being disseminated to relevant teams. Updating relevant teams of the changes in the laws and it’s practical implications on the company,
  • Assist with the management of new functionalities, programs, and systems in connection with the firm’s KYC, onboarding, and EDD function, and providing guidance to legal and finance teams on client onboarding matters,
  • Proactively research and assess cutting-edge AI, RegTech, and operational tools for integration into L.E.K.'s global compliance infrastructure, enhancing efficiency and aligning systems with the firm's international standards,
  • Assessing the company's compliance requirements with all laws and regulations in all areas- HR, Admin, Data Privacy, AI, Finance, Anti- Bribery, Tax, Corp Sec and ESG, ensuring compliance with internal applicable rules & regulations and group policies,
  • Assist the team in continuous compliance assessments to recognize areas where the company might be vulnerable to non-compliance and mitigating these risks,
  • Assist with the firm’s Securities Trading Platform and other platforms,
  • Working cross-functionally with other L.E.K. departments and teams, such as Finance, Tax, HR, Marketing and others as and when needed to ensure timely delivery of various compliance matters and protocols,
  • Researching on compliance related operational tools and other AI requirements that can be integrated with L.E.K global standards and tools,
  • Research pertaining to new legal updates and upcoming laws of jurisdictions where L.E.K is located. Update relevant teams of the changes in the laws and its practical implications on the company,
  • Work at the direction of the Senior Compliance Specialist/Compliance Manager and closely with the global Legal team in connection with compliance matters; and, maintaining documentation and assisting the team with strategic compliance requirements, as necessary.

Qualifications:

    A law degree, with an accomplished academic record, from a top-ranked, accredited college or university, with expertise in Corporate Law, International Law etc.
  • 1-3 years of experience in compliance management, ethics and risk compliance, project management, compliance implementation, or related experience, preferably within a professional services firm, or similar environment.
  • Experience in working with global compliances or laws from multiple jurisdictions
  • Assist Compliance team in additional responsibilities like creation and review of Policies and Procedures in line with law of the land.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments on regulatory audits and reviews from time to time.

  • Ability to multi-task, incorporating outstanding organizational skills and flexibility, to prioritize work and deliver the maximum business value,
  • Familiarity and comfort with technology solutions, including databases and compliance technology.
