Job Title: Executive / Sr. Executive Cytogenetics

Department: Diagnostics / Genetics
Location: Head Office Kelambakkam, Chennai
Reporting To: Cytogenetics Lab Manager / HOD Genetics

Experience:

• Executive: 13 years
  
• Sr. Executive: 4+ years
  

Job Purpose:

To perform cytogenetic testing and analysis of patient samples with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring strict compliance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards. The role involves sample processing, slide preparation, karyotyping, FISH analysis, report generation, and coordination with clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

For Executive:

• Receive, verify, and register samples for cytogenetic testing.
  
• Culture and harvest peripheral blood, bone marrow, amniotic fluid, CVS, and other sample types.
  
• Prepare high-quality slides for karyotyping.
  

• Analyze metaphases using imaging software and generate preliminary interpretations.
  
• Maintain precise documentation and adhere to lab quality standards.
  
• Assist in FISH analysis under supervision, including probe preparation and hybridization.
  
• Coordinate with reporting officers for report finalization.
  
• Maintain lab inventory and hygiene in accordance with SOPs.
  

For Sr. Executive (in addition to the above):

• Independently perform FISH and conventional karyotyping on multiple sample types.
  
• Review and validate work of junior team members and support their training.
  
• Troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to protocol enhancements.
  
• Ensure documentation aligns with NABL/ISO 15189 and other regulatory guidelines.
  
• Participate in internal/external quality assurance programs.
  
• Address client queries in coordination with reporting authority or HOD.
  

Key Skills & Requirements:

• M.Sc. in Cytogenetics / Human Genetics / Life Sciences or equivalent.
  
• Practical experience in tissue culture, karyotyping, and FISH.
  
• Familiarity with imaging software (e.g., CytoVision, Ikaros).
  
• Exposure to NABL/ISO 15189 lab operations preferred.
  
• Meticulous documentation and keen attention to detail.
