Job Description
- As a US Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating loan documents, analyzing credit reports, income calculations, collateral reviews, and assets verification. Your main focus will be on determining the creditworthiness of customers and providing approval or denial decisions based on FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, and investor guidelines. Your role will involve thorough review of credit reports, income types (salaried, business, retired, rental), collateral valuation, and assets verification including bank statements, retirement accounts, and other investments.
To excel in this role, you should have a minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience in US Mortgages, a strong understanding of US residential mortgages, and familiarity with underwriting processes and guidelines. Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make sound judgments are essential. You will also be expected to analyze and calculate qualifying income using various tax documents such as 1040s, Schedule E, 1065, 1120, 1120S, K1, and transcripts.
Additionally, effective communication, presentation skills, self-motivation, and hard work are key attributes for success in this position. The ability to work independently, demonstrate good decision-making skills, and adhere to business judgment principles is crucial. Experience in end-to-end underwriting, live underwriting, 4Cs (Credit, Capacity, Collateral, Capital), and income calculation will be beneficial for this role.

This is a full-time position based in Bengaluru with remote work options. The working schedule is Monday to Friday with a day shift.
