We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join the Strategic Insights team within Engineering to drive the research and development of statistical, machine learning, and NLP models that empower customers with actionable insights. This role focuses on improving proposal quality, win rates, and team productivity by enhancing dashboard usability, integrating tailored recommendations, and increasing efficiency through analytics. Youll play a key role in showcasing Loopios ROI to executives while solving real-world problems with modern AI practices.

All aspects of building data science products are familiar to you: wrangling with messy or missing data, feature engineering, prototyping statistical/machine learning models, and coding up an appropriate solution thats fit for production. You are driven by the thought of solving real-world business problems and a practical mindset.

This role requires close collaboration with teams across Canada, the UK, and India. To accommodate the time zone differences, you will be expected to work from 11 am to 7:30 pm IST.

What Youll Be Doing

• Data Analytics & Insights: Analyze large-scale text data to extract patterns, trends, and actionable insights. Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, and statistical analysis to improve model performance and business decision-making.
• ML & NLP Model Development & Research: Design, build, and refine machine learning models for NLP applications, including text classification, summarization, and document understanding. Leverage state-of-the-art techniques such as transformers and large language models (LLMs).
• Scalable ML Systems: Develop solutions that handle large-scale text data efficiently, integrating models with cloud-based ecosystems (preferably AWS) and distributed computing frameworks like Spark when necessary.
• AI-Driven Problem Solving: Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate complex business needs into impactful AI solutions, balancing innovation with practical implementation.

What Youll Bring to the Team

• Data Analytics & Statistical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex datasets, apply statistical methods, and derive meaningful insights to guide decision-making. Experience with data visualization (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and storytelling.
• Advanced ML & NLP Expertise: 5+ years of experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, and NLP techniques, including transformers, LLMs, RAG, text classification, NER, and semantic search. Strong ability to apply research advancements to real-world applications.
• Software & Data Skills: Strong programming skills in Python, experience with SQL, and proficiency in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch). Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and efficient model implementation.
• Cloud & Scalable AI Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud-based ML deployment (AWS, GCP, Azure) and distributed data processing (Spark) when necessary.
• Innovative Mindset & Impact Orientation: Ability to identify high-impact AI opportunities, experiment with cutting-edge approaches, and optimize models for accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Strong Analytical & Communication Skills: Ability to break down complex ML challenges, communicate insights
• Collaborative Problem Solving: Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design teams effectively to translate business needs into AI solutions. Skilled at fostering alignment, sharing knowledge, and co-creating strategies that drive measurable impact.

• Loopio is a remote-first workplace because we recognize the advantages of working flexibly. We are HQd in Canada, with established hub regions around the world where we hire from.
• Our employees (or Loopers, as we call ourselves!) live and work in ???????? Canada (British Columbia and Ontario), ???????? London, and ???????? India (specifically in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Bengaluru).
• Our India/UK hub employees work according to business hours stated in the job description above. This is intentionally designed to enable our global teams to have overlapping hours for collaboration.
