The Associate will work with multiple onshore strategists across regions to deliver short to medium term research projects.
The role will focus on coverage of full spectrum of commodities including oil & gas, base metals, bulk commodities, energy, commodities. The work slate will involve building and maintaining comprehensive databases for commodity level data as well as macro-economic data, developing regular notes and assisting in thematic research, coverage of financial flows in and out of commodities as well as coverage of demand and supply (capacity, production, inventories) trends and forecasting prices.
As the associate becomes proficient on the role, there may be opportunities to interact with the management of companies and clients. The associate will work closely with associates having skill sets in data analytics, accounting and research preparation for high quality deliverables from office.
Types of projects / tasks may include, but are not limited to:

• Creation and maintenance of supply/demand and pricing models for commodities under
• Tracking of commodity news and analysis of periodic statistical data. Using Python knowledge to coverage. build robust models on supply.
• Demand prediction and time-series modeling.
• Constant collaboration / information exchange with fellow associates working within the global Commodity and Metals & Mining research across all geographies.
• Background analysis as a part of active research on a theme
• Completion of ad hoc client requests, often to deadlines
• Assistance in initiation of coverage on new commodities
• Completion of ad hoc client requests, often to tight deadlines
• Preparation of marketing presentations for lead analysts
• Support in developing new products Education
  

The candidate will hold one of the follows: CA (preferably from Big Four Accounting Firms) or masters degree in economics and/or mathematics/engineering/statistics from a premier academic institution.
Experience
3-5 years of relevant experience covering commodities (Gold. Silver, Oil) and Base metals (aluminum, copper, nickel, zinc etc.) are preferred. Mining and Steel industry knowledge is preferred.
Strong financial and analytical skills to critically dissect reports and develop detailed financial Skills models.
Good data management and analysis skills and a high degree of comfort with Excel; should be comfortable in maintaining and updating databases.
Knowledge of statistical tools & techniques.
Good writing skills (good at structuring the report and articulating the key findings); ability to synthesize ideas in clear, logical written English.
Familiarity with research databases such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Factset, Eviews, Stata, Haver, Macrobond. Familiarity with standard data sources for different commodities.
Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with companies and overseas colleagues.
Ability to work under time constraints, handling multiple priorities, with minimal supervision, and in a team environment.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
The candidate should be a pragmatic "self-starter", who can work independently if the analyst is traveling or as part of a team. Job Types: Full-time, Walk-In Experience level
