Civil Engineer – Solar PV Projects (Rooftop & Ground-Mount)

About the Role

• Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with strong expertise in rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV projects to join their growing renewable energy team.

This role will be responsible for reviewing and developing civil and structural designs, geotechnical assessments, and site engineering solutions for solar projects from feasibility and design through construction and commissioning. The successful candidate will work closely with electrical design teams, EPC contractors, geotechnical consultants, and mounting structure suppliers to deliver technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant solar energy projects.

• Reporting To: Technical Director

About the Requirements

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Reviewing and developing civil and structural designs for rooftop and ground-mount solar plants
• Assessing geotechnical investigation reports and translating findings into foundation design recommendations
• Designing and validating pile, ground screw, micropile, and ballasted foundation systems
• Reviewing earthworks, grading, drainage, and cable trench layouts
• Coordinating with mounting structure and tracker suppliers on load, wind, seismic, and foundation requirements
• Reviewing contractor designs, shop drawings, BOQs, specifications, and as-built documentation
• Supporting site inspections, pile load testing, quality audits, and construction supervision activities

About You

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Master's Degree or Structural Engineering specialization is preferred.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in civil engineering design and project execution.
• At least 3-5 years of direct experience in utility-scale and ground-mounted solar PV projects.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering, foundation design, drainage systems, roads, and earthworks for large-scale solar developments.
• Experience working with solar mounting structures, trackers, pile testing, and civil-electrical interfaces.
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors and reviewing technical deliverables in an Owner's Engineer, Design Consultant, or EPC environment.

Proficiency in:

• AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000 or equivalent structural analysis software, PVcase and/or PVsyst (civil interface exposure preferred), Primavera and/or MS Project
• Experience using document management platforms such as Aconex, Wrench, EgesDoc, or similar systems.
• Strong analytical, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations, including extended site supervision assignments when required.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Arabic language skills are considered a strong advantage.
