Claims advocate (heavy industries & mining)

We are seeking a talented individual to join our claims advocacy team at Bowring Marsh. This role will be based in Dubai/DIFC. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

The claims advocacy role is part of the heavy industries, metals and mining sector team. This role involves providing dedicated, prompt, and effective claims support and project management for strategic clients with assets and locations across MENA. The advocate will work closely with Marsh clients, Marsh claims operations, claims consulting, and the local CE/broking organization, handling claims both pre-loss and post significant or complex losses. The role also supports other advocates in the DIFC-based specialty claims group, particularly in energy, power, and construction sectors.

We will count on you to:
  • Provide key clients with explanations pre-loss on what to expect when a major loss happens.
  • Engage early with clients once claims are notified to Marsh, triaging new claims (complex, large, contentious) and providing ongoing guidance on the claims process.
  • Identify all potential policies and layers of coverage, provide expert advice on policy interpretation, and assist in drafting claim strategies with agreed milestones.
  • Devise and manage project strategies for complex or large claims, guiding other team members and managing project delivery from start to finish.
  • Assist clients in strategically running their claims and identify revenue opportunities by introducing subject matter experts such as claims consulting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with insurance carriers, loss adjusters, and lawyers to ensure the Marsh claims brand is well positioned.
  • Ensure efficient claims project management by reviewing information, documentation, and negotiating with relevant stakeholders including insurers, adjusters, attorneys, and experts.
  • Assist in dispute resolution with insurers and provide relevant technical advice to support underwriting.
  • Respond to enquiries from clients, insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors, and other involved parties.
  • Support effective negotiations to maximize client benefits under their coverage.
  • Prepare loss statistics, analyze trends and patterns for review with clients and insurers.
  • Attend meetings with clients, insurers, or third parties as required.
  • Identify growth opportunities in collaboration with client executives.
  • Deliver pre-loss and product-specific training to clients and stakeholders.
  • Identify high-risk claims and ensure effective involvement by the Marsh office.
  • Comply with internal claims professional standards, identify and report potential professional indemnity exposures, and contribute to audit programs.
  • Liaise and coordinate with internal units to ensure organizational goals are met.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to project manage claims and tasks.
  • Understanding of client service requirements and ability to deliver value.
  • Ability to work collegiately and develop strong internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience of claim handling for 10+ years with the ability to participate in or lead discussions on claims consulting matters.
  • Good understanding of the Middle East/MENA claims process and market procedures.
  • Educated to degree standard and/or professionally qualified (progress towards professional qualification considered); loss adjuster background preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work well as part of a wider team, respect others, and take direction.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload to achieve targets.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with a desire to progress towards excellence.
  • Flexibility and ability to thrive in a changeable working environment with a growth mindset.
  • Focused, goal-oriented, and accountable for deliverables.
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships both internally and externally.
