Senior Manager - Tax Operations

Position Title : Tax – Senior Manager (Grade E)

Location: Mumbai, India

Qualification: CA

Experience: 7 to 12 years experience managing direct and indirect tax responsibilities in a mid-size corporate entity

Purpose

To lead and manage the end-to-end tax compliance, assessment, and tax governance agenda for all MMC entities in India, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient execution of direct, indirect, and transfer pricing obligations while identifying opportunities for tax savings and process improvement.

Reporting Line

This role will report into the designated tax leadership function within MMC India.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead tax planning and strategy development for MMC entities in India.
• Manage and oversee all direct tax, indirect tax, and SEZ compliances.
• Ensure timely and accurate GST compliance, including filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual reconciliation, and 2A/2B reconciliations.
  
• Oversee GST registration, export eligibility reviews, and related statutory requirements.
• Manage SEZ, GIFT, and STPI compliance requirements.
• Ensure timely WHT compliance and payments.
• Reconcile TDS (26AS) with books of accounts and resolve variances.
• Calculate and monitor advance tax obligations.
• Prepare and file income tax returns and related submissions.
• Manage regional tax compliance requirements as applicable.
• Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation and related records.
• Manage direct, indirect, and transfer pricing assessments, including appeals, notices, and hearings.
• Maintain effective documentation and support for assessments, transfer pricing matters, and audit reviews.
• Engage with external tax consultants and attend hearings on key matters as required.
• Manage tax and transfer pricing audit requirements, including tax matters arising in other audits.
• Ensure appropriate GAAP and financial statement compliance for tax reporting.
• Monitor tax law changes and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and support implementation of approved actions.
• Lead and manage the tax team, driving accountability, collaboration, and strong execution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Chartered Accountant qualification.
• 7 to 12 years of relevant experience in direct tax, indirect tax, and compliance management.
• Experience in a mid-size corporate environment handling a broad tax portfolio.
