What role will you play in the team?
As a Canadian Expatriate Tax Assistant, you will be a crucial part of our team, supporting our expatriate tax professionals in providing tax services to individuals working across borders. Your contributions will help clients navigate the complexities of international tax laws, ensuring compliance and optimizing their tax positions. Your role will support our firm's dedication to personalized client service.
What you will do
Your responsibilities will include preparing tax returns for expatriate clients, assisting with tax equalization calculations, conducting tax research, and supporting senior team members in client engagements. You will also help clients understand their tax obligations and provide assistance with responding to inquiries from tax authorities. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are vital for success.
Key responsibility
- Prepare Canadian tax returns (T1) for expatriate clients.
- Assist with tax equalization calculations and reporting.
- Conduct research on Canadian and international tax laws and regulations.
- Support senior team members in client engagements and projects.
- Prepare working papers and maintain accurate documentation of tax positions.
- Assist with the preparation of tax planning strategies and recommendations.
- Respond to inquiries from expatriate clients regarding their tax obligations.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in Canadian and international tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other tax professionals to provide comprehensive tax services.
- Adhere to firm policies and procedures.
Required Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master's degree in Taxation is an advantage.
- Minimum 0-1 years of experience in Canadian tax compliance.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax preparation software such as TaxCycle or Cantax.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
