About Our Client
Our client is an indian insurance company, that is a market leader in the segments in operates in.
Reporting to the Head of - Legal, Compliance and Risk, and leading a team of 10 people, you will be responsible for -
- Supervising the team of legal experts in the area of contract negotiation, governance, advisory and litigation.
- Working with all the distribution and support functions of the company to provide legal advise and practical and compliant solutions
- Advise on Real Estate, Investments, Due diligence, Claims, Labour and employment related, Day to day Operations
- Effectively and proactively manage and conduct litigation (including complex corporate dispute resolution, arbitration matters etc) at various levels and other legal proceedings across all geographies
- Take part in all discussion pertaining to strategic alliances such as corporate agents, brokers, bank assurance and help structure contracts, compliance obligations, compensation structure, carry out due-diligence, do regular monitoring and render advise
- Advise on interpretation of laws including the Insurance Laws, Companies Act, Contract Act, Information Technology Act, Outsourcing Laws, Cyber laws, Data Protection, Privacy Laws, Labour Laws, Stamp Duty, etc.,
- Advising on the corporate restructuring, mergers and related issues.
- Keeping update on the latest development of trends and laws relating to Life Insurance Industry.
- Advising and assisting Finance team in all litigation related to Direct and Indirect Taxes pending or to be filed before the CIT/ CESTAT/ High Court/ Supreme Court etc.
- Advising business department in day to day operational and customer related issues
- Spreading legal awareness/ Trainings in the company on various laws affecting the business
- Engaging external legal including senior counsels effectively
- Handling various matters pertaining to penal legislations and enforcement agencies throughout India
- Drafting response to the query/observation from various regulators including IRDAI, SEBI, RBI etc including representation before the regulator
- Handling matters /disputes associated to IPR and other trademark related matters.
- To help in progressing in the digital space and explore avenues to make the department more technology and process-oriented
- Bring out the best ESG practices and oversee the related compliances

- Work in close coordination with the Compliance, Risk and the Internal Audit team
- Overseeing legal support to the pension management subsidiary of the company
The Successful Applicant
Ideally you are commercial lawyer with a deep insight in the banking and finance space or in an allied sector. You come with 17+ years of experience and are based out of (or open to relocating to) Gurgaon/Delhi
