Job Description
Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Student support:
- Serve as the first point of contact for students seeking support and direct them to the relevant support staff within the department or assist the students to make appointments.
- Follow up with students to ensure attendance to appointments and trainings.
- Collaborate with the department to support student success and wellbeing.
- Assist with processes involved in departmental events and training programmes.
- Assist with preparation of online and self-paced learning material.
- Data entry and Reports:
- Update and maintain records and report data to the department using appropriate technological resources.
- Aid with creating and implementing feedback surveys for events and report on the same
- Liaise/Follow up with faculty and professional services departments to ensure timely action.
- Assist/Liaise/Follow up with students for responses before deadlines.
- Support the department to oversee the daily operations of the Office, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- High level of professionalism in handling confidential student and departmental data/information.
- Maintain and implement policies, documentation and procedures to streamline support and enhance support services.
- The post holder will need to be empathetic, calm and effective in dealing with all stakeholders concerned be it students, staff and/or external parties.
- The post holder must be committed to supporting students and their success and will need to convey confidence and positivity to members of the public, staff and students.
- The individual will demonstrate an outcome-focused and proactive approach to time management, problem-solving and multi-tasking.
- The position requires flexibility with work schedules that will enable CAS to continue to meet the needs of the University.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment in the workplace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as requested by department
Qualifications Required
- A recognised undergraduate qualification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel and PowerPoint. Other software is a plus.

- Related and appropriate practical experience in a university/educational environment is a plus.
The post holder will need to be able to convey confidence and assurance to members of the public, staff and students.
- The post holder will need to be calm and effective in dealing with staff and students at the University and efficient in dealings with external parties.
- Empathy and emotional intelligence, for recognising and responding sensitively to the needs of all students including Students of Determination
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills in order to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
Essential:
- Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team
- A good level of writing and presentation skills for formal reporting documentation
- Demonstrable suitable IT skills including use of spreadsheets (MS Excel) and presentation software (MS PowerPoint).
- Ability to ensure confidentiality of all matters and departmental materials
- Good administrative skills with an emphasis on attention to detail, process efficiency and thoroughness in completing the work through multi-tasking and prioritising.
