Position: Senior Director QE Automation

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sr. Director QE Risk & Automation to lead and manage our Quality Engineering (QE) and Automation teams. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality, risk management, and automation strategies across core network technologies. You will lead a team of Senior Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the performance, security, and scalability of our systems. Your expertise in backend tools, frameworks, DevOps, and core network technologies will be vital in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our systems.

This pivotal leadership role requires a technically hands-on leader who can drive advanced test automation strategiesincluding leveraging the latest generation of AI-powered testing toolsto ensure our systems are secure, scalable, performant, and reliable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in quality engineering, core telecom protocols, and emerging trends in AI-led QA innovation, while promoting a culture of automation-first, risk-aware, and high-quality software delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• 
  Lead and scale a high-performing QE organization of Senior SDETs, fostering ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Architect and evolve automation strategies that integrate AI/ML-driven testing solutions (e.g., autonomous test generation, self-healing scripts, anomaly detection).
• Partner with cross-functional teams to embed quality into all stages of the SDLCfrom design to deploymentensuring test coverage for functional, non-functional, and security requirements.
• Design and extend modular, scalable automation frameworks for APIs, microservices, mobile apps, and distributed systems with an emphasis on test reusability and intelligence.
• Drive test data management and generation strategies to simulate realistic production scenarios and improve the reliability of automated tests.
• Apply advanced performance, scalability, and chaos testing techniques to validate system behavior under extreme and unexpected conditions.
• Apply expertise in telecom protocols (e.g., IPX, Diameter/RADIUS, LTE/5G) to develop and validate network-specific test strategies.
• Continuously evaluate and onboard next-gen automation tools and platforms, including open-source and commercial AI-based tools (e.g., Testim, Mabl, Functionize, Applitools).
• Champion the integration of test automation with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows, ensuring seamless deployment and rollback mechanisms.
• Lead the evolution of a metrics-driven quality culture using KPIs like defect escape rate, automation coverage, MTTR, and test execution velocity.
• Lead testing activities within Agile/Scrum processes, ensuring alignment with sprint goals and facilitating backlog grooming and stand-ups.
• Guide QA strategy and planning for new product areas, AI/analytics-driven features, and integration with external systems or third-party vendors.
• Deliver clear, actionable reporting on test results, defects, and quality risks to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Desired Profile: -

• 15+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles within telecom, cloud, or analytics-driven product companies.
• Proven ability to design and scale test automation solutions using modern programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript) and tools like Selenium, TestNG, Postman, and REST-assured.
• Hands-on experience with AI-enabled QA platforms or autonomous testing tools, incorporating smart test prioritization and impact analysis.
• Deep expertise in telecom network protocols including Diameter, RADIUS, IPX, SS7, 5G/LTE roaming, and their implications on end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with big data and streaming platforms like Kafka, Aerospike, Elasticsearch, and their associated testing challenges.

• Strong command over cloud-native testing, infrastructure as code, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and test orchestration in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Demonstrated success in driving shift-left testing practices and integrating quality within agile, DevOps, and rapid delivery environments.
• Prior experience with performance engineering, security validation, and automated risk assessments in production-like conditions.
• Passion for leveraging AI, analytics, and telemetry to drive predictive QA and reduce defect leakage.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI/ML product testing or data validation pipelines.
• Prior contributions to open-source testing frameworks or QA communities.
• Experience working in multi-tenant SaaS environments with complex data privacy and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with model-based testing, synthetic monitoring, or chaos engineering practices.

Work Experience: 15+ years

Educational Qualification: BE. / B.Tech., M.E./M. Tech. or M. Sc. in Computer Science or any related qualification.
