Motilal Oswal - Tech Sector Coverage Role - Investment Banking

Job Purpose
We are building a high-impact Digital & New Age Investment Banking vertical, focused on partnering with category-defining companies across their lifecycle-from growth-stage private businesses to pre-IPO and public market transactions.
This role is designed for senior professionals who can combine execution excellence with origination capability, working closely with founders, investors, and strategic buyers on complex, high-value transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Leadership:
- Lead end-to-end execution of equity fundraises, M&A, and strategic advisory mandates
- Independently manage the full deal lifecycle: origination - pitch - mandate - execution - closure
- Oversee financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials with strong attention to quality and timelines
Client & Founder Coverage:
- Build and manage relationships with founders, CXOs, and boards of high-growth digital businesses
- Act as a trusted advisor on capital strategy, growth, and strategic outcomes
- Drive senior-level conversations and negotiations
- Origination & Business Development (Critical)
- Own and drive deal origination within the Digital & New Age ecosystem

- Develop a strong pipeline through sector mapping, founder outreach, and network activation
- Partner with senior leadership to convert opportunities into mandates
Investor Franchise Building:
- Maintain and deepen relationships with VCs, PEs, growth funds, sovereigns, family offices and strategic investors
- Actively connect capital with opportunities and drive investor engagement
- Sector Leadership (Digital & New Age)
- Build differentiated insights across key sub-segments (listed below)
- Develop sector POVs, thematic pitches, and proprietary intelligence
- Position the firm as a thought partner in new-age sectors
Team & Internal Leadership:
- Mentor junior team members and ensure high-quality deliverables
- Drive internal best practices across execution and client management
Role Requirements:
- 8 to 12 years of experience in Investment Banking
- Demonstrated track record of leading transactions end-to-end
- Strong understanding of digital business models and valuation nuances
- Proven ability in client handling and stakeholder management

- High ownership mindset with ability to manage multiple parallel mandates
Preferred Background:
Educational Qualifications: MBA / CA
