Textile Designer creates, develops, and produces original patterns, prints, and weaves for fabrics used in apparel, home furnishings, and industrial products. They utilize CAD software, sketch, and research trends to create marketable designs, ensuring technical feasibility in production, color accuracy, and alignment with brand aesthetics, working closely with manufacturers and fashion teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesPattern & Design Creation: Develop unique, trend-aware designs, prints, and patterns for fabrics using CAD software (Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator) and hand sketching.Trend Research & Analysis: Analyze fashion and textile industry trends, color palettes, and consumer preferences to inform design decisions.Technical Development: Select appropriate materials, textures, and fabrics while understanding production techniques like weaving, knitting, and printing.Production Liaison: Collaborate with manufacturers to create technical specifications, strike-offs, and prototypes, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely, accurate production.Presentation & Sampling: Create, organize, and present design collections and physical samples to clients or internal stakeholders. Required Skills and QualificationsTechnical Proficiency: Strong skills in CAD, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.Creative & Technical Skills: A keen eye for color, texture, and pattern, along with knowledge of fiber properties (natural vs. synthetic).Communication & Collaboration: Ability to work with design teams, vendors, and clients to interpret briefs and meet deadlines.Education: A degree in textile design, fashion, or a related field is typically required.
