Associate Manager - Collateral Risk (Legal Operations)

About the Team

The Credit Strategy team at Navi is responsible for developing and optimizing underwriting strategies across our key lending products. The team owns and drives key underwriting metrics, asset quality indicators and portfolio monitoring while ensuring that credit decisions align with business objectives and risk tolerance of the Company. This team focuses on continually enhancing underwriting quality and portfolio health to support sustainable growth.

About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting Navis Home Loans business by driving legal operations within the collateral risk function. The role involves reviewing property-related legal documentation, assessing title and ownership risks, coordinating with external legal partners, identifying legal red flags, and ensuring that collateral approvals comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

This role requires strong legal acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders to enable accurate, timely, and risk-aligned lending decisions.

Role & responsibilities

• Review and validate collateral legal reports, title documents, encumbrance records, and collateral-related documentation.
• Identify, assess, and escalate legal risks, title defects, ownership concerns, litigation risks, and compliance gaps.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel, panel advocates, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely legal clearances.
• Maintain legal risk databases, audit trails, and management reporting related to collateral approvals.
• Support fraud detection and risk mitigation initiatives through robust legal due diligence and exception monitoring.

• Collaborate with product, operations, and technology teams to improve legal review workflows and process efficiency.
• Monitor regulatory and market developments impacting property lending and collateral risk management

What We Expect From You

• LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) is mandatory
• Previous experience in property legal scrutiny, title due diligence, mortgage operations, legal operations, banking/NBFC legal functions, or collateral risk management.
• Strong understanding of property law, title verification, encumbrance checks, mortgage creation, and lending-related legal documentation.
• Familiarity with legal and compliance requirements applicable to home loans, secured lending, and collateral-backed products.
• Experience in identifying title defects, ownership issues, litigation risks, and other legal red flags impacting collateral quality.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate with legal partners, business teams, and risk functions.
• Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and reporting tools.
