Responsibilities

• Design and deliver software and infrastructure to improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our services.
• Work with engineering leads and architect to define, develop, and deploy best practices in all engineering areas across the full development stack.
• Influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
• Consistently deliver results per commitments .
• React to issues with mission critical services and mitigate these with a goal towards automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
• Work in a distributed environment with teams around the world.
• Analyze existing systems and propose improvements, paying particular attention to latency, accuracy and extensibility.
• Perform tasks related to securing services and infrastructure and incorporating a security centered mindset towards products, tools, and processes.
• Define KPIs to monitor and maintain required service levels.
• Stay educated on existing, emerging technologies and develop POCs to evaluate these for fit.
• Support team efforts in adopting relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes.
• Ability to test automate the feature using test frameworks
  

Qualifications 
Minimum years of work experience

• 6+ years software development experience
• 8+ years software industry experience
  

Education
Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent 

Required Skills

• Excellent technical, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills. Ability to explain complex data, analytics and AI concepts.
• Strong focus on quality right from the design phase, incorporating best practices and engineering for testability, including test automation.
• Positive attitude, able to build rapport with others. Strong people and negotiation skills, able to listen to disparate technical opinions and build consensus.
• Ability to work well under minimal supervision while balancing competing priorities.
• Must be able to work in a globally-distributed environment (several time zones) using strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Deep experience with agile methodologies; continuous integration, delivery and deployment to production.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and data modeling, including data warehouse (or data mart) design (e.g., star schema, facts, slowly changing dimensions (SCD)). ETL/ELT experience ideally includes developing code to transform data in a distributed environment (e.g., Apache Spark).

  Get Hired
• Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Python, .NET (C#), Scala, or Java.
• Experience with securing data, products, tools, and processes.
• Design and implementation experience with at least one cloud-based solution in each of the following categories:
• Data file storage: Azure ADLS, Amazon S3, or equivalent.
• Data warehousing: Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or equivalent.
• AI (machine learning): Azure Machine Learning, Azure Cognitive Services, or equivalent.
  

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft Certification (related to Azure Data Engineer, Data Analyst or Data Scientist roles).
• Technical, project or team leadership experience mentoring and guiding others.
• Experience with engineering interoperable solutions using common standards (such as hands-on experience with FHIR or DICOM) is a big plus.
• Experience with modern application development techniques including: Microservices, RESTful APIs, and container-based deployment and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience with delivering highly-available and disaster-recovery-ready data, analytics or AI solutions.
• Experience with healthcare solutions, systems and services, including development for or integration with EMRs (Epic, Cerner, etc.) and EMR-based data, analytics or AI solutions.
