Role Overview:
As the Deputy HOD International Taxation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's global tax strategy, particularly focusing on our operations in Nigeria and other international jurisdictions. This senior leadership position involves overseeing complex international tax matters, ensuring stringent regulatory compliance, and strategically managing tax risks and opportunities.

You will collaborate closely with senior management, finance teams, legal counsel, and external advisors, providing expert guidance on direct tax, transfer pricing, and the tax implications of post-merger integration activities. Your contributions will directly impact the company's financial health, operational efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives across its diverse global footprint.
Key Responsibilities:


- Develop and implement comprehensive international tax strategies to optimize the company's global tax position while ensuring full compliance with local and international tax laws for Petroexcel's operations.
- Lead and manage all aspects of direct tax and international taxation, including tax planning, advisory, and compliance for various entities across multiple jurisdictions, with a strong focus on Nigeria.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and defense of transfer pricing policies and documentation, ensuring adherence to OECD guidelines and local regulations to mitigate risks.
- Provide expert tax guidance and lead the tax due diligence and integration efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, ensuring seamless post-merger integration from a tax perspective.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities, external auditors, and legal counsel, representing the company in tax audits, assessments, and disputes to protect its interests.
- Monitor changes in global tax legislation, including BEPS initiatives and local regulatory compliance updates, assessing their impact on the company and proactively developing mitigation strategies.
- Drive the development and mentoring of the tax team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance to build internal capabilities.
- Advise senior leadership on the tax implications of new business ventures, operational changes, and corporate structuring decisions to support strategic growth and profitability.
- Implement robust internal controls and processes to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance across all international operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and business development, to provide strategic tax input on commercial initiatives and contracts.

Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in international taxation, including a deep understanding of tax treaties, foreign tax credits, and cross-border transactions, with 20-28 years of progressive experience.
- Proven track record in managing complex direct tax matters and ensuring regulatory compliance within a multinational corporate environment, particularly in Nigeria.
- Extensive experience in developing, implementing, and defending transfer pricing policies and documentation, aligning with global standards and local requirements.
- Strong leadership and management capabilities, with a history of building, mentoring, and leading high-performing tax teams.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate intricate tax regulations and provide practical, strategic solutions.
- Adept at post-merger integration, including tax due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition tax planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with senior stakeholders, tax authorities, and external advisors.
- A professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or an equivalent international qualification, or a Law degree with a specialization in taxation.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced international business environment, adapting to evolving tax landscapes and business needs.
