Position Purpose



This role will be responsible for leading the taxation operations at joint venture manufacturing location in a timely and accurate manner. The rimary responsibility is to lead tax planning and compliance, which includes ensuring that company tax documents and returns are complete, organized, and accurate.


The role will be required to liaise with internal and external auditors; statutory bodies, Government agencies and other agencies to ensure that taxation matters are handled smoothly.






Strategic Responsibilities




  • Lead the tax initiatives to improve compliances and planning.

  • Monitor the business closely and recommend changes in the processes to reduce / optimize on tax costs & processes

  • Support the leadership team in review/development of Financial Policies and Inventory controls for the organization.

  • Review and suggest changes in existing tax architecture and setup.

  • Identify any areas of internal accounting and control weaknesses or potential risk and map the same with adequate provisions.






Operational Responsibilities



Indirect Taxes



  • Complete ownership of GST related compliances

  • Closely review the tax credit account and ensure accuracy of credits


  • Carry out tax partner selection and work seamlessly with tax partner / consultant dealing with tax matter.

  • Represent the company in industry forums on taxation matters.


  • Work with IT and functional teams to ensure system validations and reconciliations.


  • Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting, filing of tax returns, tax forms and related compliances.

  • In charge of providing necessary inputs for tax assessments and litigation management.

  • Be up to date on tax legislations.


  • Timely 2A credit reconciliation including follow-up with vendors

  • Provide business with requisite MIS report to assist business in decision support

  • Review the SAP taxation setup


Accounting and review



  • Co-ordinate and provide support to respective business MIS team to ensure effective and efficient execution of cost takeout initiatives


  • Work towards effective resolution of any discrepancy or data/ entry issues in GST return as compared to financial statements.

  • Review and sign off all MIS reports that are to be presented to the senior management team.


Compliance



  • Maintain close liaison and coordination with external tax authorities.


  • Coordinate with external agencies like law firms, auditors, IT authorities, consultants for implementation of tax planning and resolving issues.

  • Ownership of GST

  • Co-ordinate with risk management team in identification of control gaps

  • Partner with finance excellence team to standardize and automate processes and establish system based controls


Audit



  • Lead the GST Audit for the unit

  • Ensure timely completion of the statutory and tax audits for the company relating to taxation areas


  • Internal audit support – Co-ordinate with internal audit controller and other department for smooth conduct of internal and statutory audits. Provide necessary information/ documents to handle audit queries.


  • Ensure all required information is provided to the auditors and all queries raised are adequately addressed.

Work Experience



Overall 6-10 years with at least 2 years as GST team member in a manufacturing setup.
