Job Description

What role will you play in the team?

As a Canadian Corporate Tax Analyst, you will be a critical component of our team, assisting in the preparation and review of Canadian corporate income tax returns and related compliance matters. You will support senior team members in providing tax advice and solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries. Your contributions will drive efficiency and accuracy in our tax compliance processes.

What you will do

You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns, analyzing financial data, conducting tax research, and assisting with tax planning projects. You will also support the team in responding to inquiries from tax authorities and ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations. Your role will involve collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibility

  • Prepare and review Canadian corporate income tax returns (T2) and related schedules.
  • Analyze financial statements and supporting documentation for tax compliance purposes.
  • Conduct research on Canadian federal and provincial corporate tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax planning strategies and recommendations.
  • Support the team in responding to inquiries from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Prepare working papers and maintain accurate documentation of tax positions.
  • Assist with the calculation of tax provisions for financial reporting purposes.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in Canadian corporate tax laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals to provide comprehensive tax services.
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures.

Required Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master's degree in Taxation is an advantage.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Canadian corporate tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial corporate tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with corporate tax preparation software such as TaxCycle or Cantax.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Completion of or progress towards a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA).
