What you’ll do

As a Risk Management Specialist in Enterprise Risk Management area, you’ll the candidate will be required to use you’re their risk experience to strategically lead the development and execution of risk management programs, standards, and requirements across our business and service center units.

This is a unique opportunity as the individual in this role will play a key role in the development of a comprehensive enterprise risk management operating model. You will be responsible for implementing and executing enterprise risk management programs and initiatives covering all applicable risks across Principal. This includes, but is not limited to, reporting, policy reviews and oversight, risk assessments, process transition oversight, issue management, business continuity planning, third party risk management and overall governance responsibilities of the risk management program.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Be accountable for implementing and executing enterprise risk management programs and initiatives covering all applicable risks across Principal Business units, for areas responsible
• Identify risks – across assigned verticals across Principal such as HR, Financial, Security, Data, Personnel etc. and discuss with relevant stakeholders for effective mitigation efforts
• Develop monitoring methods and implement appropriate risk reporting for Senior leadership to make risk informed decisions
• Monitor the application and effectiveness of the enterprise risk management process and suggest improvement ideas
• Ensure that a comprehensive and continuous risk identification process is in place and embed in your day to day conversations with the Business units
  
• Establish communicate and facilitate use of appropriate ERM methodologies, tools and techniques
• Build and maintain positive relationships to enable credibility and value of working towards common goals with stakeholders
• Prioritize risk management efforts against initiatives and identify and plan for effective & sustainable mitigation of emerging and higher areas of risk.
• Understand strategic imperatives to identify, analyze and consult on risks that could impact abilities to meet objectives. In close partnership with the business and risk teams, lead in-depth evaluations across multiple business areas and develop, prioritize and report actionable enterprise recommendations.
• Engage with business and risk teams across the enterprise as a risk management contact and subject matter expert related to operational risks, including but not limited to, transitions into our Principal Global Services operations, business process, third party, talent, data, reputation and technology risks.
• Leverage demonstrated knowledge of industry, products, services, processes, systems, customers, and risks to assess and consult in the design of effective controls aligned to business processes and strategies.
• Collaborate and consult with Compliance, Legal and Audit to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations. Provide guidance in the development and implementation of risk-mitigating strategies, where necessary.

• Bachelor degree or equivalent education and experience
• 8-10 years risk management experience (includes legal, compliance, audit or direct oversight of a business process with accountability for compliance or risk management)
• Possesses refined communication skills and advanced speaking capabilities
• Ability to write/revise policies and guidelines and maintain risk register
• Big 4 experience/ banking risk management experience preferred
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively required
• Knowledge of internal business operations and/or corporate functions preferred
• Experience, designing, building, and implementing risk-based control and governance frameworks
• Operational risk experience with risk identification and assessment, root cause analysis, control identification and effectiveness reviews and issue management.
• Deep understanding of financial service products, laws and regulations, back office operations and risk systems is strongly preferred.
• Experience with risk & compliance systems, risk certifications such as CISA, CISM, CISSP etc. strongly preferred.
• Good grasp of COBIT fundamentals which underpin IT risk assessment, Exposure to SOX- IT related reviews, Transition risk reviews etc. are a plus
