Data Engineer Architect (Banking & Credit Cards)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer Architect with strong exposure to the banking domain, particularly in credit cards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data architectures, enabling advanced analytics, and supporting critical decision-making across credit card portfolios. This role requires relocation to Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-scale data architecture for banking and credit card systems
• Build and optimize data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses to support analytics and reporting
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand credit card lifecycle, risk, and transaction data requirements
• Enable data-driven decision-making across areas such as credit risk, fraud detection, and customer analytics
• Define and enforce best practices in data governance, security, and compliance (aligned with banking regulations)
  
• Lead the integration of multiple data sources including core banking systems, card systems, and third-party platforms
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of data platforms
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and data scientists to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Mentor technical teams and provide architectural guidance

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Architecture
• Strong experience in the banking domain, with specific exposure to credit cards (mandatory)
• Expertise in designing data lakes, data warehouses, and large-scale data platforms
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP)
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, or Scala
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop ecosystem)
• Deep understanding of credit card data flows, transactions, underwriting, and risk analytics
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security standards in BFSI
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
