Job Description
- As the Head of Legal & Compliance at questW in Gurugram, your role will be crucial in developing, implementing, and leading an effective legal and compliance function tailored to the organization's business. You will directly work with leadership and all departments within the company, providing counsel on business transactions, drafting agreements, offering legal advice, and managing litigations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, designing, and implementing an effective Compliance Management System to meet regulatory requirements
- Providing regular compliance reporting to company management and counterparts
- Interpreting new laws and regulations impacting the company's operations
- Performing risk assessments and ensuring operational compliance controls
- Designing and implementing a compliance testing and monitoring program
- Overseeing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Drafting and updating compliance policies and procedures
- Developing and deploying effective compliance training for stakeholders
- Assessing compliance risks associated with third-party service providers
- Providing strategic legal advice on business transactions and operations
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements and legal documents
- Managing corporate governance matters and legal issues
- Acting as the legal interface with the company and related organizations
- Selecting and managing outside counsel for legal opinions and handling claims/litigations
Your knowledge and skills should include:
- Strong knowledge of Indian laws and regulations related to financial services
- Ability to function as a business partner and balance perspectives
- Skilled in policy development, procedures, and training methods
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with legal counsel and business groups

- Strong problem-solving, project management, attention to detail, and leadership skills
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized Indian university; LL.M. or international legal qualifications preferred
- Active member of the Indian bar with a valid Certificate of Practice issued by the Bar Council of India
- Minimum of 13+ years PQE in in-house legal practice or reputable private law firm in the finance industry
- Experience in leading teams and managing legal staff and compliance functions
- Strong expertise in Indian corporate law, financial regulations, RBI compliance, and data protection
- AML/CTF and compliance experience, preferably as an MLRO
- Captive-auto finance and consumer finance experience preferred
- Fluency in English and Hindi (or other Indian languages) is required,
