Job Description
- The Manager, Software Engineering will lead the Vulnerability Coverage team responsible for delivering vulnerability content to customers, ensuring accuracy and reliability. You will collaborate closely with the product management team to align on roadmaps, prioritize new coverage, and drive long-term improvements with automation pipelines. Additionally, you will drive operational excellence, collaborate with security researchers, and manage the delivery of coverage for emerging threats.
The Vulnerability Coverage team is vital to Rapid7's product portfolio, including InsightVM and InsightCloudSec, by delivering, expanding, and maintaining an extensive coverage portfolio to provide customers with accurate and quality content. Team members develop skills in various technologies such as Python, Java, Ruby, AWS, Kubernetes, and security domain expertise. The team ensures customers have up-to-date coverage by delivering daily content packages, providing monthly Patch Tuesday coverage, and responding quickly to emerging threats. Maintaining high standards for content quality and accuracy is a key focus of the team.
In this role, you will:
- Directly manage a team of Software Engineers, including coaching, mentoring, scoping work, and prioritizing tasks
- Mentor engineers to help them grow their skills and provide feedback
- Manage projects, communicate progress, organize cross-functional deliverables, and create project plans
- Drive improvements in testing, monitoring, and alerting to maintain quality
- Collaborate with PM, UX, and Engineering teams to address customer pain points and strategize product direction
- Work closely with other managers and teams to align efforts and initiatives
Skills required:
- 2-3 years of experience in managing software engineering teams and mentoring software engineers
- Passion for software engineering, understanding of the software development lifecycle, and ability to read code

- Strong project and program management skills with experience in managing multiple high-impact projects
- Customer-centric approach and ability to prioritize customer needs in decision-making
- Knowledge of the security landscape is a plus
- Strong communication skills with various audiences
