Job Description
Role Summary
We are hiring a Zonal Head HR for a leading Life Insurance Company, based out of Chennai, responsible for end-to-end HR leadership across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The role will act as a strategic HR Business Partner to business leadership, ensuring alignment of HR initiatives with zonal business objectives across Agency, Bancassurance, Direct Sales, and Corporate functions.
Role & responsibilities
Strategic HR & Business Partnering
- Act as the Zonal HR Head and strategic advisor to Zonal & Regional Business Heads.
- Translate business goals into effective HR strategies for the zone.
- Drive workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Manpower Planning
- Own zonal manpower planning and hiring strategy across sales and non-sales roles.
- Ensure timely hiring for Agency, Bancassurance, Direct Sales, and Support functions.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition teams and external vendors to meet hiring SLAs.
Performance Management & Employee Engagement
- Drive performance management processes including goal setting, reviews, and payouts.
- Lead employee engagement, retention, and morale-building initiatives.
- Handle critical employee relations issues and escalations at zonal level.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to HR policies, labor laws, and statutory compliance across states.
- Monitor HR operations including onboarding, exits, disciplinary processes, and audits.
- Coordinate with Corporate HR for policy deployment and change management.
Learning & Development
- Identify training needs in collaboration with business leaders.
- Support implementation of leadership development and capability-building programs.
- Promote a performance-driven and values-led culture.
Candidate Profile
Education
- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent (Full-time preferred)
Experience

- 1520 years of overall HR experience
- Minimum 5–7 years in a senior HR leadership role managing a large geography
- Mandatory experience in Life Insurance or Financial Services
- Prior experience handling Tamil Nadu & Kerala or South Zone preferred

- Strong HR Business Partnering capability
- Deep understanding of sales HR (Agency, Bancassurance, Direct Sales)
- Expertise in talent management, employee relations, and compliance
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
