Software Maintenance Engineer

About The Job
The Software Maintenance Engineer is responsible for working with minimal supervision to prioritize assigned work and resolve routine to semi-routine issues with limited complexity.
This role exercises judgment to support software maintenance efforts and collaborates with global teams to ensure consistent software updates and patches.
The role supports critical software maintenance tasks while developing proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging.
Note: This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information requiring special treatment in accordance with Red Hat policies and applicable privacy laws.
What will you do

• Troubleshoot software issues and debug defects based on general instructions.
• Perform maintenance tasks and support ongoing software lifecycle management.
• Assist in the development and execution of patch processes for semi-routine issues in stable release streams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product maintenance and quality assurance efforts.
• 
  Ensure the timely resolution of routine issues in collaboration with engineering counterparts.
• Contribute to software monitoring systems and provide updates to project leads.
  

What will you bring

• 3-4 years of professional J2EE/JEE platform experience
• Deep experience with one or several JEE/App Server technologies such as JMS, Web Services, SOAP, REST, Tomcat or Datasources, FuseSource, Camel, AMQ, Karaf,Debezium and Kafka
• Experience working with Springboot framework
• Must have handson experience with application server technologies JBoss/WebSphere/WebLogic
• A solid understanding of Java Programming APIs & popular Java frameworks is preferred
• Experience with databases and SQL
• Must have strong troubleshooting/debugging skills and a passion for problem solving and investigation

• Ability and willingness to learn new open source middleware technologies
• Very clear and effective English communications skills (Verbal & Written)
• BE/BS/BA degree in engineering or computer science is preferred; equivalent experience within the enterprise IT sector will also be considered
