The Role: Analyst II

The Team:

• Fuels, Chemicals & Resource Solutions (FCR), a business line within S&P Global, delivers unrivaled information expertise and strategic insights to the global oil, gas, and power industry from concept to market.


• Our clients largely comprise of oil and gas operators, international/ national oil companies, gas and power utilities, financial investors, governments, and other stakeholders.


• We offer clients a combination of long-term advisory, tailored consulting, and membership services to meet their needs. We work with corporate and regional executives to develop sustainable strategies and to assess investments and divestments within those strategies.

The Impact:

• The oil and gas downstream business stand at a critical juncture as we accelerate towards energy transition and alternative fuel. Also, the high energy prices hinder progress in the near term, with political consensus around energy transition more difficult to achieve, as governments balance security concerns with decarbonization goals. The short-term outlooks remain highly volatile, marked by regional variations in Covid-19 measures and major shocks from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. You will be working within a team of oil markets, midstream, and downstream specialists and across a business possessing expertise spanning all related sectors, as we seek to grow our thought leadership position.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and perform complex research assignments across downstream industry by utilizing different sources and advanced secondary research techniques.


• Conduct in-depth research on geographic segment trends, competitors, industry market trends and issues, and relevant technology topics.


• Manage, maintain, and enhance proprietary analytical models and databases currently marketed to OMD clients. Deliver research-based projects and models customized for client needs.


• The analyst will be involved in supporting thought leadership and writing insight papers on recent market developments and policies.


• Support team management to promote the effective use of resources across projects.


• Collaborate and communicate effectively with local and regional management.


• Support and mentor junior staff to design and deliver work, to grow professionally, and to meet the strategic growth objectives of OMD team.

What We’re Looking For:

• Preferably an energy-related degree required with 3-5 years of experience. We also welcome applications from candidates with an economics, political science or international relations-related degree alongside demonstrable numeric and excel skills.


• Experience in researching complex issues and writing coherent analyses to explain them


• Good understanding of global trends in the energy industry.


• Excellent reading and writing skills in international business English, good communication skills, and a natural bent for multi-tasking.


• Strong Office 365 application skills to include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  
  
  
  • Advanced Excel skills, individual must be comfortable with creating and maintaining pivot tables, data visualizations, IF statements, V/H Lookups etc.
  
  
  • Ability to perform data structuring and analysis using Python a plus.
  
  
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI a plus.
