TheRole: Director – Risk Solutions
The Team: The Risk Solutions team is to builds and maintains credit assessment analytical solutions that leverage the S&P Global Ratings methodologies / criteria and data. Scorecards are licensed by financial institutions globally to help them pursue best practices and regulatory compliance.
The Impact: As a subject matter expert on corporate sectors and credit solutions, the candidate will play a central role to help ensure our scorecards are fit for purpose so that our clients effectively manage their internal risk rating systems and meet regulatory requirements.
What’s in it for you: This role allows the candidate to fully apply diversified skills while combining aspects of managerial leadership, innovation, and operational efficiency. Further, the individual is also expected to participate in onsite client presales and project execution meetings, which help to develop deep market intel and practical knowledge of regulatory requirements in different markets. Most of the onsite travel would be in Southeast Asia, Middle East, and Africa.
Responsibilities
- Work within and lead a team of credit risk, product development professionals. To collect and analyze credit information (both data and research) where probability of default (PD) and loss given default (LGD) models are developed, tested for accuracy and predictive capability, and recalibrated, as dictated by client and market opportunities
- Maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of the scorecards
- Incorporate client and delivery team feedback to further refine scorecards
- Enhance or redesign the scorecard update and maintenance process
- Provide client facing business development support
- Work closely with other regional teams at S&P Global Market Intelligence in producing credit assessments of credits on MI Scorecards, scoring rationale, and other similar client projects. Author all deliverables including technical sections, summaries and final reports.
- Build strong partnerships with the regional scorecard teams by discipline, transparency, and clear communications
- Contribute to development of solutions and features that incorporate impact of sustainability / environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in credit risk and assessments of projects entities, corporates, sovereigns and local governments.
Key Candidate Attributes
- Apply Basel II/III compliant and industry best practices methodologies in that execution.
- Keep abreast of market, industry and regulatory developments that effect the approaches and techniques used in the analysis.
- Demonstrate strong subject-matter expertise in credit ratings, analytical excellence, and strong presentation skills in front of internal and external audiences.
- Have a strong understanding of S&P Global Ratings criteria
What We’re Looking For
- Top of class MBA, CA, CFA or CPA. Additional qualifications such as FRM preferred
- 10+ years of industry experience in financial services, working with Risk Management / Risk Analytics division of large bank(s), Big 4 consulting firm, credit rating agency or risk consulting firm. Minimum 5 years of work experience in credit risk domain
- Strong knowledge of credit risk with related qualitative and quantitative reasoning skills
- Experience with corporate sectors, including SME, and including recovery analysis, CECL, LGD will be preferred
- The role requires interacting with credit officers and risk management teams of world’s largest commercial banks and investment managers. Hence the candidate must have excellent analytical skills. The candidate must be articulate and have clear and confident spoken and written communication.
- Work independently under tight deadlines to consistently produce high quality work including written reports, credit analysis results and interim deliverables, with full accountability
- Ability to work in teams and to collaborate across regions.
