General Manager - Railways Business

Location: Chennai

Role Objective:

The General Manager for the Railways Business will be responsible for spearheading the strategic growth, operational excellence, and stakeholder management for the Railways and Government Projects division. This leader will drive large-scale B2B sales, oversee technical service delivery, and align manufacturing outputs with project timelines to solidify Company's presence in the national transport sector.

- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive business plan to capture market share within the Indian Railways and related government infrastructure projects.

- P&L Management: Drive revenue growth and profitability for the division, ensuring high-value contract wins and sustainable margins.

- Team Management: Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team across Sales, Technical Service, and Manufacturing to ensure seamless project execution.

- Liaison & Networking: Build and maintain high-level relationships with key decision-makers in government bodies, railway boards, and large-scale contractors.

- Operational Oversight: Coordinate with manufacturing units to ensure product availability and quality standards meet the stringent requirements of government tenders.

- Experience: Approximately 15-20 years of experience, with a proven track record in managing Railways or large-scale Government Projects.

- Education: Strong academic background from a Tier-1/Tier-2 engineering or management institute.

- Core Competencies: Extremely sharp and strategic mindset; high level of integrity and trustworthiness.

- Skills: Exceptional communication skills in English and Hindi are mandatory; proficiency in Tamil is highly preferred.

- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of B2B business cycles and government tendering processes (GEM, E-tenders).
