About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with deep expertise in Azure Data Bricks, data pipeline design, and SQL development to join our growing data engineering team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment supporting advanced analytics and data-driven business decisions.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a professional who excels in modern cloud data platforms and wants to contribute to scalable, reliable, and high-performance data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes in Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Develop, optimize, and manage large-scale data models
  
  and data lakes on Azure.
• Write efficient and complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to define and implement scalable data solutions.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across multiple systems and sources.
• Monitor and optimize performance of data workflows and pipelines.
• Support the transition from contract to full-time by documenting processes and demonstrating technical leadership.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

6+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or related role.

5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks, etc.).

2+ years building and managing data pipelines (ETL/ELT) in Azure Data Factory or similar tools.

4+ years of strong SQL development experience (query tuning, stored procedures, optimization).

Proven experience working with Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, or similar cloud-based data services.

Strong understanding of data modeling,

Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD for data pipelines, and agile development practices.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Python or Scala in data engineering workflows.
• Exposure to Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Delta Live Tables.
• Familiarity with DevOps, DataOps, or ML Ops pipelines.
• Prior experience in contract-to-hire or startup environments.
