Job Description
- As a Database Specialist, you will collaborate with application developers to design and optimize DB2 databases in the z/OS environment. Your responsibilities include installing, configuring, and setting up DB2 database instances, creating tables, indexes, and stored procedures to meet application requirements.
You will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries, and maintaining indexes specific to the z/OS environment. Developing and implementing database backup and recovery strategies is vital to ensure data availability and integrity, considering z/OS specific considerations.
Managing database security is crucial in this role, where you will configure user roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing to safeguard sensitive data. Routine maintenance tasks such as patching, upgrading, and applying service packs will be part of your responsibilities to keep DB2 instances on the z/OS platform up to date.
Implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions tailored for DB2 databases in the z/OS environment, including data sharing and clustering, is a key aspect of this role. You will set up monitoring tools specific to the z/OS environment to track database health and performance, configuring alerts for proactive issue resolution.
